Credit card basics- what do they need to know?

Hi,

I'm trying to help a friend get out of some credit card debt.

Hoping to move them to a bank which let's you do a balance transfer for x months.

Problem is, this person has just been terminated from their job (they were in it for 4 months). It was only last week.

I know it's a little dodgy- but could they 'provide' paychecks & not mention they've been terminated? will all credit cards want to know if you've got a job?

  • I think usually they ask for a work number in the application so they can call the company if you don't pick up your other given phone number but also I think to check if they work there

  • +4

    This is called application fraud.

  • Good point. Do all credit card companies require you to have a job & do this cheque? Liklihood of compassion or anyhing having just been fired?

    • Compassion ? we're talking about BANKS here !!! They are there to make money, not showing compassion.
Having a job means you'll have a regular source of income to pay for whatever amount you owe on the card. They will be silly not to check if you actually have a job.

  • They generally call your employer to verify the information you've provided.
