Youtube extremely slow on LG Smart TV's (42LM6700)

I bought LG 42LM6700 3D smart TV last year and really happy with it, except for the Youtube. When ever I try to share a video from my phone to the Youtube app, it takes ages to open up the youtube app and keeps crashing every now and then. Its almost unusable. Did anyone else had similar problems with the LG smart tv's ? Any fix for it ?

All other apps run smooth like butter, even the browser is usable. Its just this particular app. Upgraded the firmware to the latest, but no luck.
Planning to buy chromecast now , just for youtube

Can't comment on the TV, but the chromecast dongles are brilliant for youtube streaming

  • I find the same problem with mine. Updates etc didnt fix anything. Takes a while to load and freezes when playing a clip or navigating.

Exactly. I reckon its got to do with the lack of processing capability to play 1080p videos, which the Youtube client on tv picks up by default. I dont think there is any other option left, but to buy chromecast or Amazon Fire TV (Quad core with 2Gb for 99$) if at all available in Australia.

      didn't*

  • I've got a 2012 model LG. At one time the YouTube client was operable and responsive. Some time back a firmware upgrade brought a YouTube that is very slow to start and quite unresponsive. A continuing problem.

  • Yeah, I have ended up buying Chromecast. Its much much better experience now, especially as I use Plex as a home media server.
Get the chromecast, its available on Google Play Australia now along with 6$ free credit.
