    Hi Guys,

Cheaper on three other websites at the moment.

Alas all overseas webstores so we can't get that low with our prices (We have to apply GST to begin with :S). Our shipping times are a lot faster though! Average shipping time for VIC is 1 -3 Business Days, 2 - 5 Business days for interstate. (From UK you are looking at shipping time of between 7 - 14 business days)

Plus we have free shipping insurance, so if it goes missing, we replace the game :D

Fair enough, for a few dollars extra probably worth it! Plus supporting an Aussie company :)

      • So this is local stock you will have right away? I always thought you guys also imported.

        • We do import, but we import stock from overseas to our Melbourne Warehouse. So anything marked as "Instock' on our website means it is ready to ship from there as soon as payment clears :)

The upside is, faster shipping times and customer support being local. Places like Ozgameshop are UK based but sell to Aus market, OR it's an Aus retailer but they drop ship ie Video Ezy. Drop shipping means you can circumvent GST costs but means its usually dispatched from overseas and thus longer dispatch and shipping times. Hope that explains things a bit!

        • No offense but your explanation of cheaper websites are they are import stock yet you are selling import stock yourself? I'll wait for the inevitable $29.99 US digital copy regardless (US Store)

We're not saying they are cheaper because they import stock. We're saying they are cheaper because they are based overseas, meaning they don't have to include GST into their pricing. Or they have cheaper shipping costs (ie Singapore post is ridiculously cheap compared to AusPost). Dispatching overseas means they also don't have to factor in customs fees etc.

And by all means waiting for the cheaper Digital Copy is a sound idea. We simply felt we had a great price for the game and wanted to share it, and when the argument was raised it was cheaper elsewhere, wanted to explain to you guys why we unfortunately couldn't get it that low :)

        • I see your meaning but as a pom I know that the UK postal service is every bit as expensive as the AU service. Also Ozgameshop prices are the same as their UK store prices (365 games) and so I assume we are already paying a higher tax (20% VAT) instead of GST (10%)
I feel for smaller AU stores like yourself but from a consumer point of view AU retail as a whole is a total rip off and only set to get worse with the reforms on import taxation. I'll bypass them with digital imports.

  • Why is this in the freebies section?

    • Our mistake - misread the tick box, thought it meant if you offered free shipping. Have edited :)

Good to see DC active on ozbargain. Do you guys still have the same location in the CBD? Also, would pickup be available?

    • Thanks! Unfortunately we shut the retail store down last year to focus more on the online store. No pickup option available at the moment :S
