Wedding Photographer for Tasmania

Hi all,

Yep, finally found a good deal on a wife and went for it! Absolute bargain and was free too :) (Sorry for not poasting, limited stock rule I guess). She is almost as cheap as me and first thing she says when I show her new things is 'was that on sale?' (more recently became 'was this on OzBargain?' hahaha).

Anyways, we are from Sydney and already booked airfares, accommodation, ceremony venue, reception venue and celebrant in Tasmania, December this year. We are now looking for photographer/videographer at a reasonable price (less than $5k total inc. transport).

The real issue is finding a decent videographer in this range. It seems anyone can take decent photos, but a lot of apparently 'professional' videographers take very 90's style videos (quality wise too). Some of the samples online made us think 'wow, we would be paying for THAT?!?!' Ideally, we wanted this company but way out of our range. We thought their style was amazing and made us cry in almost every clip (manly tears of course!).

I am sure there are more savvy married bargainers out there who may have some tips to help out if possible. We would really appreciate it too :)

Ps. When I mentioned to my fiancee I would ask the OzB community, she looked at me a little funny as if we wouldn't find much assistance here. I felt disappointed in lack of faith here haha.

    wives are never free.

keeping it in the OzB community, might want to contact this guy from a few days ago:

…although he is new and might not have any photographers on board yet.

  • are you looking for a photographer + videographer, or just video guy? for video, we're using http://www.tedysutanto.com.au/ for our wedding in two weeks time!

    • Both actually. Ideally the same people for both, but if pricing works out, have 2 different companies. How have you found that company so far? Congratulations btw on your celebration coming up :)

      • Thanks buddy.

We've watched his a fair few of his videos. He's no Paper Cranes, but the price is right. Average communication, but so far he's been reliable. We're meeting with him on Monday for final walkthrough of the day - will let you know how it goes.

        • I watched a couple last night and they were not too bad. I didn't look at the price yet.

  • I know to you "mainlanders" Tassie is very small, but where are you getting married, a photographer from Wynyard isn't going to want to travel to Hobart for example.

    • I was quite surprised that most photographers I have asked become quite keen to travel. Generally they ask for the transport and accommodation covered and they build their destination wedding repertoire. It's a win in most cases for travelling photographers/videographers.
