30 days is a bit bleh for a $110 device

  • can it be unlocked for telstra?

    • +2

Yes it can be for a small unlock fee, but better off getting the E5372 from Telstra for just $99.

    • I bought this modem a few weeks ago from the Optus store, it is unlocked and my Telstra sim works in it.

Better to get the Telstra E5372 for $99. Much bigger battery (3400 vs 1700 on this) and more LTE Bands. Can get unlocks also easily for $5~$10 or so.

ANyways if anyone still wants to go for this may be for the Optus 2300Mhz LTE. This can be unlocked as well. If anyone wants unlock for E5372/E5776 let me know :P

    • I mentioned in the OP the Telstra option as it is hard to go past. But this is the better option if you wish to use optus 4G Plus (2300mhz LTE)

Are you sure the battery is 1700? The specs list it as 3000 and that is what I acheive in my use.(http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-broadband/mobile-wifi/t…)

Unlock codes on eBay range from $2-$10 for this too ;)

    • No way 10 bucks, got codes for unlocking two E5372T for 3 bucks each on eBay.

Also,if anyone wants to flash generic Huawei firmware on the E5372T, it can be found on whirlpool posted by regenade, you will need a flash code which he charges for. But in the spirit of Ozbargain, you can get it for free here, note the unlocking codes do not work, but the flash code does:

  • I just finished my contract with Telstra with this device and I'm thinking to go prepaid. Anyone knows if this device works with Optus in Brisbane? They have a good deal: 15 GB for $130(365 days expiry) instead of 12 GB for $180 (365 days too) with Telstra

    • I use this device with Virgin 4G (optus network) in Spring Hill (near the CBD). Works great!

      • In reply to "eshipley" when you say, "I just finnishedmy contract with Telstra with this device", do you mean that you were on contract with Telstra using an Optus 4G WIFI Mobile Broadband (Huawei E5776) modem listed above? If you travel around, you would not get the full potential of the Telstra network, as this modem has no 850 MHZ 3G band. It will be perfect for Optus though. Keep in mind that Optus measures data in MB blocks as opposed to kb for Telstra, and from experience it makes a difference. Not sure where you use it, but if you move around, the Telstra Next G network reaches further. Just food for thought

        • Hahahaha, sorry, my mistake. I just see the picture but I was wrong. The device I have is a Sierra Aircard 760S, loked to Telstra. And yes, I had a contract with them for 12 months, and it expires a few weeks ago.
When I saw the picture I thought it was the same. You're right, sorry guys.

        • Optus do not count in 1MB increments.

"1. Included Data: will be counted in 1KB increments and includes both uploads and downloads for use in Australia. Unused data does not rollover."

    • Don't use prepaid, it is simply stupid. You can get a month to month contract if you buy the device outright which costs $54.95 for 15GB. Cancel anytime and not joining fees etc.

      • so you buy the device and they offer you a month to month 15gb plan? Wouldn't you be better off buying this and just using internode? (uses optus 4g)

  • Hi Jordan,

You mentioned you use this device with Virgin 4G. Did you have to unlock the device from Optus? Or is it good out of the box (and correct APN details) for Virgin 4G?

I currently have Virgin prepaid on 3G which I've just seen I can activate 4G on.

    Many thanks!
