Beats Solo Headphones?

I was thinking of getting Beats Solo HD headphones lately, and wanted to know about the quality?

Are they good headphones? quality wise. (Disregard the 'swag' bias that comes with it and all, disregarding the brand etc.)
I Just want a rating on the actual quality of the headphones themselves.

Thanks!

Beats headphones are entry level headphones at high end price. They're good at bass, but sucks mids/highs.

They are actually decent headphones but unfortunately with a unreasonable price tag. There are lots of other options which will, err, beat the Beats headphones in both sound quality and price.

You can try out these headphones at any JB Hifi store, just walk up to the audio section where they have sections for you to try them out.

    • ^ assumes the Beats at JB Hifi aren't buggered. The Vic Gallery stores from memory is decent.

FYI I have the Beats Solo HD and the Beats Studio (and have also bought the diddybeats too), and they're decent. I enjoyed my Solo HD a lot when I got them and they definitely helped me stay focussed on work/etc with the ear pads. Very comfy. The cable however is a bit weak and can fray/wear out over time (in my case, the one with the iPhone friendly remote) but luckily it's easily replaced since it has a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.

In terms of price, make sure you wait for them to go on sale. There are sales every now and then at JB and other places.

ps. If given the opportunity, I'd go Studios over the Solo HDs. The pricing isn't too bad especially during a sale (sub $200) and is a worthwhile step up from the Solo HDs IMO.

  • My friend got a pair of Solo HD's for free when he got his HTC phone but never used them, and I was considering getting them off him for 100$ ? (mates rates)

do you guys think its worth?

    • yeah i'd say so if you like the sound/look.
