ATM fee free withdrawal while in the US

I am heading to the US in the next couple of months and am wondering what the most economical way of withdrawing money would be.

I have a 28 degree credit card, Ignite by Westpac Mastercard, and an ANZ debit Visa card.

Look forward to reading your comments.

  • Interesting to monitor this thread, too. When I traveled over to the States I was encouraged to get a Travel money card. Essentially it was a gift card preloaded with pre-converted money.

Doesn't have anything to say about withdrawal fees, though. In retrospect I got wrecked by them.

  • I travel there a lot, and have found that TD Bank was the only one not to charge an extra fee for making withdrawals from it's ATM's.

They aren't in every state though, so it depends on where you are going.

  • +4

    Citibank plus debit account.

    • Yup, seems like this is the best option available at the moment.

    • Thank you!!!!

    • They are only fee free at ATMs that are affiliated with Citibank. I'm actually in the US at the moment and found that the ATMs in the supermarkets near me (Publix) provide fee free ATM withdrawals.

    • I reckon we need to make a wiki page. Basically Westpac will charge you $5 + whatever fee the ATM charges (e.g. ~$2 in US) to take out money unless you use a Bank of America ATM.
