Royal Easter Show Tips? Cheap/Free Tickets? Things to check out?

Hi all,

Considering going to the Sydney Royal Easter show this year, but wondering what's the cheapest way to get tickets. (Concessions) and also are there any really good show-bags I should get? Are show-bags even really worth getting? Any must-see things? Let me know!

Cheers!

  • How to get 2 cheap adult ticket?

  • There's a code here on OZB that gets you 25% off adult show-link tickets. I can't remember the exact code but it's marked as expired, but still works!

  • ATM lines are long. very long

I went yesterday. Didn't take enough drinks for the day so ended up buying a few. The prices vary quite a bit. The cheapest ones seemed to be in the vending machines near where the horses were and also inside the Dome and the rectangle building that hangs off it. There may be other places, but these were the 2 cheapest we noticed (but still not the most efficient way to get hydrated).

Cheapest food are the free samples being provided around the Dome. Cheapest drink is the free milo with milk next to the working dairy (although they ran out of milk around 3pm). Special mention to the $2 cheese toasties in the Dome.

If you are going on rides, suggest pre buying from web site as it is cheaper, but you do need to buy quite a few so either need to spread it out over people or spend a bit of time on rides.

I couldn't find any great value in food show bags compared with say buying the same stuff on special at Woolworths or Coles (or even full price). Maybe the Wagon Wheels one. The magazine ones seemed like good value if you liked the particular subject on offer.

Overall it was a good day, but it isn't a cheap place to visit and not really a place you go looking for an overall bargain, especially once admission fee is considered.

  • What do you think about going for the evening ticket, anything worth doing? as the entry is cheaper, but do not see much advertised?

  • has anyone had any luck with the codes lately? it says the code is accepted but there is no change in the price :(

  • any active code guys?

  • Don't mind buying some food but for drinks a few cold ones from home will go down nicely, sure beats paying exorbitant prices for alcohol at the show ;)

  • Are you allowed to take in your own food and drinks?

    • yep they don't check bags or anything, to many people. take a few beers and a picnic if you want to save money, probably tastes better than the food they sell anyway.

  • any discount code for entry ticket guys?

    • Buy from a Woolworths store, I screwed up and brought it directly from the Royal Easter Show Website.

      • discount expired last week
