Thanks, always appreciate your cost breakdowns. So quick - it would take me three times as long to try and do that myself.

  • The title says 1TB, whereas its 2TB + 120GB SSD ?

    • +2

Ahh damn, typo + it won't fit. Amended now. Definitely has 2TB + SSD!!!

This is quite a well rounded gaming build.

However, if you don't need a build immediately I would hold off and buy some parts individually when they are on sale, choose a case to your liking, get a better motherboard and perhaps scrap the OS. You might only pay a little extra or maybe even get it for the same price. You would have to assemble it yourself.

To expand on the motherboard, it's not too bad on it's own. However, something with more expansion might be better (i.e. extra ram slots and 1 more PCIe slot for eg). Plus, there are other manufacturers that are seen to be more reliable (I own as ASrock and it has been running fine though).

But thank you cpl again for posting a good bargain on here. Keep the builds coming!

the system is a bit unbalanced but typical to hit a price point

      very very good video card
      good cpu
      good case/cpu
      very ordinary board

pay the few dollars to upgrade to a z87 of some sort, even an asrock z87

      • +2

Why would you want a Z87 board for a non-overclocking build? It's completely unnecessary. AsRock's failure rate is very similar to other manufacturers.

    • +1

The only things that seem to go on sale though are SSDs, HDDs and GPUs. If you're going to do your own build it may be worth holding out.

This is like the equivalent of a Dell but for gaming. Pay for the whole thing and keep your hands clean heh. :D

Only thing I'd really change is a smaller PSU for the single GPU. If you're building it yourself you'd wait for a SSD/GPU sale. ;) The case itself is pretty bang for buck IMO. Functionality over form when you're on a budget :P

The motherboard has 4 RAM slots just like most Z87 boards and supports dual-channeling. It also comes with 2 PCI-E slots and 2 PCI slots which is enough for 99% of users who don't plan on SLI / Crossfire.

AsRock's failure rate is only slightly higher than Gigabyte, and very similar to other manufacturers.

  • Hello OP,

For your next deal, would you consider offering a 'upgrade pack' including motherboard, CPU and possibly RAM for people that already have a case and power-supply.

I'm looking to upgrade my current set-up.

    Thank you.

This seems to be exactly the same as:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&c… but with a gigabyte card instead of the XFX
But $200 cheaper! Great work CPL

    Courier Delivery to ACT $43.80.

    Case comes in black too.

    Very very tempting.
