  • Location?

    • Psy… i'm in Sydney hahaha ,

      • What, not in Gangnam? Come here, plenty of seafood for you! :D

Four points buffet is crap. You'll be disappointed 'even' at half price. It's more like old RSL club buffet. Sheraton on the Park is where it's at. I've got a membership there, so I eat there all the time… Probably the only other seafood buffet that's up there is Marriott Sydney harbour - just my personal opinion

    • I don't mind the 4points, it use to be really good but the quality has been questionable at late.

I like the spread of balmain bugs and sashimi, and they use to have massive tiger prawns and pacific oysters,

now its Sydney rock oysters and smaller king prawns.. cooked food selection and dessert has suffered as well.

  • The Novotel in Brighton Le Sands is pretty good on the Friday / Saturday nights (although not cheap)… But some weeks it is better than others (e.g. sometimes it's nothing special, sometimes it's free-for-all lobster)

  • Garden buffet at the star?

    • yeah I wouldn't rate this buffet very high, and it's expensive. the fresh seafood is crap…

you get imported vannamei prawns, and crappy Sydney rock oysters

the hot food selection is quite average.

for 2 people … I would rather pay for a seafood platter at nice restaurant.

  • BTW: Friday night buffet at Feast is not to be missed! It's a little more expensive at $99 pp, but they put on an even better than usual spread (including seafood).

    • will keep that in mind..

saw this a review… the menu doesn't look too bad for $55pp

      http://www.waterviewrestaurant.com.au/wp-content/uploads/201…

      • Really good for $55 - especially king crab legs!
I eat at Feast for 50% off, so I'll probably stick to Sydney CBD for now, but wouldn't mind taking a wander up North!

        • hey, i also a seafood lover lol, how can u eat at Feast get 50%off…… :-(

        • I've got a membership card that gives me 50% off :)

  • Ohh your a Starwood member… Did you have to pay to get the membership?

    • Yeah, it was the paid membership because we entertain occasionally - seemed like a good idea at the time

  • Any seafood buffer on special today dinner time?

you can sign up to a starwoods preferred guest membership (free) and get 15% off… feast.

or for those that have an entertainment book.. you can get $5o off the bill at inter-continentals opera café.

  • Tried the opera cafe buffet at the intercontinental hotel (sydney) last year. I used the ent card, I think it was $100 for two people with the $50 off. Great flow of sashimi and macarons. I would go back again for the discount, it was great!

  • just saw a friend that checked into facebook at a place called

    star

    http://www.starbuffet.com.au/

it has multiple locations and look like they have a decent spread for under $30 crab legs, sashimi and oysters

anybody been there that can report on the quality?

    • I'm planning to go there this Father's Day.

Well what a shambles.. Marconi was so packed that we ended up at Steak on the Rocks in Canley Heights instead.

I thought the security guy at front of Marconi was joking when he directed us to StarBuffet as "through that way, all the way at the back where the long queue is". The Cucina next to StarBuffet's looking-like-hour-long queue at 12:45pm was hocking a set menu at $70pp - so that was the end of our trip to Club Marconi.

Decided on Canley over Fairfield as PlanB, and Merrylands would've been too far to drive on our hungry tummies (and probably would've been as busy I suspected). Luckily Steak on the Rocks had a $40 seafood special for Fathers Day where the half lobster was pretty decent and wifey's $25 wagyu rump was yummy too.

Next year, I'm going to StarBuffet on Father's Day Eve.

      Oysters? Are you sure?

Avoid the Bankstown one at all costs. Nightmare. Horrible place, overcrowded, insane lines for food at lunchtime. Food is okay but not amazing.

Seven Hills has less choice (though I haven't been there for a few years) but is less jam packed with people.

Personally never seen crab legs or oysters. Sashimi has been limited to a few sad morsels per plate on the sushi trains (which are always swarmed by people who refuse to budge and collect all the best plates, leaving anyone waiting further down on the train with either nothing or the boring stuff).

But considering the price, it's still probably worth trying once to find out for yourself :P

My favourite RSL buffet is in Merrylands.

WAIT - are you talking about Star Buffet or THE Star Garden buffet? http://www.star.com.au/sydney-restaurants/casual-dining/Page…

      lol

      • Thanks for your input.

I was going to go the Bankstown one but might consider the Marconi one instead based on your review.
I'm also considering Merrylands RSL now, but I might check out what Mounties has to offer.
Staying local so I can enjoy Cabra's Moon Festival celebrations with the family.

        • No worries. The Bankstown one seems to be getting worse and worse. I haven't been there for a dinner in a long while, but recently went for weekend lunches a few times (purely because I got a free buffet voucher for my birthday lol and it's a convenient place to catch up with relatives/friends). I think lunches might be more busy simply because it's cheaper than dinner, so it attracts the 'tighter' crowd lol.

Anyway, the issue is they're expanding the dining space and number of seats, yet the amount of food stays the same. If you get in later than the early crowd, they'll give you seats at the far end through some doors that look like fire exit doors lol. It's an old spare room used as an extension to the buffet - pretty much their way of increasing diners (and thus $$) without forking out for extra bain maries, thus resulting in hoards of people queuing up around the same buffet island, and food running out constantly.

Quite frustrating when all you wanna do is have a quick meal and get out lol. People can be quite aggressive too (but that happens to most people when they're hangry)

The best part about Bankstown is the unlimited soft drink refill machine. I end up filling up on diet Coke :D haha

      • Hi waterlogged,

there is one called star buffet which has a few outlets one is in bankstown, Bossley park (Marconi club)and a few other locations

and then there is garden buffet at the star (which I would avoid also)

on the menu of the star buffet http://www.starbuffet.com.au/menu/ it mentions crab legs…

i'm keen to try the one in Marconi and take your advice and avoid bankstown
