Where to buy cheap frosted glass?

I closed our bathroom window a bit roughly and it cracked. we live in a rental property.

Normally, if it was non-frosted glass, I would just buy a cheap picture frame and cut out the glass and whack it in. Sure it would break in a few months but by that stage I would have well and truly mucked off down the road somewhere.

However in this case it is textured/frosted glass, so that wont work.

I reckon if I take it to a glazier it would be 30, 40 bucks. Window pane is roughly 300mm x 250mm.

Does anyone know where I could get cheap glass of this type in Brisbane?

  • You can get frosted window film from hardware stores or craft stores. Peel and stick it on your cheap picture frame glass.

    • I thought of that, but its not frosted exactly, its that old fashioned crinkly textured glass. But thanks for the suggestion.

I have no intention to offend you Paiz, but I completely agree with kammo here; you're essentially asking us to help you dupe/ rip-off the land-lord. Why not actually tell the land-lord what you did/ do the honest thing? Maybe they'll be quite reasonable about it? Worst that can happen is you lose some of your bond, best that can happen is the land-lord's insurance covers it, and you lose nothing.
Bottom line is, why should the land-lord not even be told what has happened, to their property? How can you justify that morally?
If someone ripped you off/ duped you via this website, methinks you'd not be pleased, and would most likely complain to some higher authority… IF that is true, then the only non-hypocritical course of action is to simply tell the land-lord what has happened, and apologise, and ask them what they'd like you to do; rather than asking people on this website to help you deceive the landlord.
Again, I have nothing against you whatsoever, and I hope this works out well for you. But as alluded to by kammo, above, it seems that perhaps you have misinterpreted the core purpose of this website. It is certainly not to facilitate deception, of any kind.
    Peace, love, and mung-beans, bro'.

    • Sure, but I think that we're getting a bit off track here. I'm not actually proposing putting picture frame glass in the window as that wouldn't work in this instance anyway. I'm actually asking if there is a place where one could acquire the real glass cheaply.

    Erm…

"Normally, (etc.) … but by that stage I would have well and truly mucked off down the road somewhere."

So I guess based on that, your intentions/ question was not entirely clear.

    • Generally when people say "normally I would blah blah" the implication is that they do not propose to do blah blah in this particular instance.

  • where will i be able to find this in an Aldi?
