  • You probably need the price in your title..

    • :) Tnx corrected it

  • Is this dual core? Does it have expansion slots to add few extra cores?

      • -3

My question was that the spec says 16BG capable yet it only comes with dual cores meaning you should be able to expand it by adding additional 14 cores but where are the expansion slots?

        • +13

          Uh… are you high?
16GB has nothing to do with cores

        • +4

What the….? Why not add another 30 cores!

        • +1

          lol…. definitely !

        • -1

What the….? Why not add another 30 cores!

because on board storage is for only 16BG cores.

It also has old snapdragon technology which was obsoleted by new gorilla glass technology.

        • +3

Wow, wish my phone had 16BG cores.

        • It's only a $349 device. You'll need to buy a more expensive handset, if you want to add your additional cores….

        • +1

I was hoping for more GG, instead of BG scen… err, I mean cores…. :)

        • If you mine moar minerals and vespene gas, you can have additional cores.

        • Wow! Phones of the future with external core slot… Expandable upto 16 cores

        • +1

you should be able to expand it by adding additional 14 cores but where are the expansion slots?

Today, 14 cores. Tommorrow, 14 MILLION cores. MWAA HA HA HA HA

        • Hahaha :) Thanks for the chuckle!

        • I saw what you did there!!

I think we have just spawned a new internet meme.

Good! I knew an expert must know the relationship between 16BG and cores.

the relationship between 16BG and cores

Cores and 16GB sitting in a tree
        K - I - S - S - I - N - G

        • T - R - O - L - L ——- A - L - E - R - T

Someone is trying to hijack this hitech technology discussion and divert it to a mundane topic.

  • I hope that guy is joking, Im still not sure lol.

  • can anyone rate the battery life/functionality of this against an iPhone 5 ?
The battery life on iphone 5 is horrifying and wanted to know if HTC was better :o

  • This is actually a rather good deal, surprised it isn't getting more upvotes.

Shame about the 16gb internal memory and no expandable storage, but otherwise a solid, well built compact mid-upper range android phone.

  • How does this phone $357.90 compare to competition, like the Moto G 16GB deal at $225?

    • +1

HTC is 4G, single sim only
Moto G is 3G, with dual sim variant

      HTC is 4.3 inches, metallic body (5.20 x 2.49 x 0.37 in)
      Moto is 4.5 inches, matte plastic body (5.11 x 2.59 x 0.46 in)

Unknown if HTC has USB host
Moto G has USB OTG host

HTC has super pixel camera with 14mpx and front 1.2mpx camera
Moto G has 5 megapixels and front VGA camera

Moto G performs faster on benchmarks. Larger battery.
      HTC is slower. Smaller battery.

      Both devices are getting KitKat.

      • Thanks for the summary.
I'm wondering if people feel the Moto G is of equal footing with the HTC One Mini inspite of the 37% price difference.
4G nor dual sim matters to me.

Speed and camera matters to me. Any detailed comparisons I could be pointed to?

        • GSM Arena has details. Look on Youtube / Tech Radar for reviews and hands ons.

Another phone I recommend is Sony Xperia SP, was $259 on expired bargain. It's a low price contender, with 4G, good quality camera and SD card slot. http://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/son…

        • Thanks for the heads up on the Xperia SP. Another choice to consider and seemly a strong contender for first choice. Hope a bargain pops up for it!

I own both, so will make the following observations:

HTC is slimmer so easier to hold/pocket.
      HTC has a better build
HTC screen is of much better quality
HTC has 4G which translates to much better performance in areas with coverage
HTC battery management seems to do a better job
HTC camera does a better job compared to the Motorola

Moto G is cheap for you get (very good specs for the price)
Form factor is functional / unexceptional.
Build quality is good, compared to other devices in the price range.
Dual-Sim can be a useful feature for those that require it
Battery is good compared to other devices in the same price range (Lack of 4G, lower specs help this)

Software support for both is good. Currently the Moto-G is on the latest Android. HTC Mini 4.4.2 release has already started getting pushed out worldwide. I pity the Samsung owners, who'll no-doubt be waiting for months.

Of the two I prefer the HTC Mini, mainly due to:

      -Preferred profile
      -Better screen
      -4G
      -Better power management

If price is an issue, and you don't require 4G, then the Moto-G is an excellent device.

I purchased both mine second-hand (Inc. box, receipt, etc.), but in excellent condition. Telstra HTC-Mini ~4 months old, kept in case from new purchased from GT (Gumtree) for $225. The Moto-G (16GB) was also purchased from GT for $210 (~2 weeks old).
