SEO Provider?

Hi all,

I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

I run a small business and am trying to take it to the next level. I have a website but really need to increase sales and I was hoping to achieve this with the help of a SEO provider/individual. I frequently receive alot of spam from India about SEO and am unsure of who is good etc.

Some websites I have looked at are charging alot for SEO (around $800 per month) which seems steep.

Can anyone share their experience in this area or provide any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

    …..seems legit. /sarcasm

OP if you don't mind let us know what kind of small business you are running? SEO benefits some businesses more than others, and it might not be the most cost effective route.

    • Hi Quirki,

It is a career consultancy business mainly focusing on professional resume writing.

      Thanks

  • Hi Gerbud, its a bit of a minefield out there alright - a lot of people providing the service and difficult to tell how much value you will get from it.

I am also a small business owner and luckily we have a good amount of IT skill behind us to be able to do most of the work ourselves. We built our own website and did the SEO ourselves. We have page one listings for most of the important keywords but for others there are just so many other pages contending.

I would recommend doing the basics yourself after reading some online tutorials. Keyword research is pretty simple using googles tools and fitting it nicely into your content just as simple. As long as your website is well programmed from the start it should be easily trawlable via the search engines.

If you do go with a provider make sure its one that steers clear of quick and dirty tactics as google regularly changes the way pages are ranked and punishes those using underhanded tricks.

Our page is techassault.com.au for reference.

SEO is good for long term goals but its a slow burner, other forms of online marketing such as facebook ad's can be more beneficial and worthy of the cash/time investment.
