Breville BES980 $1874.25 at Myer

Not sure if this should be a posted deal, or a thread here as it was just a personal haggle (not that it required much haggling).

Had a receipt from another forums member for BES920/SmartGrinder for $1198 (hell of a price).

Using that as leverage got the fancy shmancy Breville BES980 coffee machine today at Myer for 25% off (RRP is $2499). As far as I know noone has got it below RRP before, so this is quite a price. I also get about $40 gift cards through Myer One. (if only I'd had some 10% bonus gift cards to buy it with, still, this way I get an extra years warranty through my visa card.

They also offered the BES920 / Smart Grinder combo for $1240.

Also got the Sunbeam EM6910 / EM0440 grinder combo for $470 (for my girlfriend).

  • That's a good deal. What did you do to get it? Would you be able to send me a copy of the receipt? Thanks.

Just made my first coffee with all settings as out of the box. My beans are about 8 weeks past roasting date, so not very fresh (though they are from a roasting house) and geeez this thing made a fantastic coffee. With fresh beans and getting the setting right it will be incredible.

I have to add I'm not a coffee expert and my former machine was a Jura Ena Micro 9 One Touch which is an easy auto coffee maker and I thought made an OK coffee. Been trying with a Subeam 6910 manual I got for my girlfriend and that is pretty difficult after an auto. I can see a manual would take lots of coffees to get the hang of. This BES980 popped one out that rivalled a good cafe coffee first pop.

  • Hey…Thanks for that. Think I'll get it with that saving.

  • To get that deal I rocked up and said 'what's your policy on price matching - and I mean serious price matching?' as I had a receipt for the BES920/Smart Grinder for $1198 from a user on Coffeesnobs forum. They said as long as it's not below cost price and got close at $1240 which I might have gone for but on an impulse I also asked about this machine, thinking they might say no deal or maybe $50-100 off (as they had specifically excluded it from a Super Saturday 15% off day). I was pretty gobsmacked by the price they offered so jumped and I'm not sorry as the auto function makes this manual machine easy to start with.

  • how'd you get the sunbeam 6910 combo for $470?? do you have the receipt?

    • Same thing. Might have helped that I bought the Breville one at the same time, but I've seen the Sunbeam for $490 I think somewhere since so $470 isn't much of a stretch. If I remember I'll post the receipt (don't have it handy).

  • Are you able to rescan the receipt with better detail?

  • I too would really love to see a better price on the BES980.

If you have a copy of the reciept in a bit better quality that would be greatly appreciated too.

  • Anyone else manage to find a good deal on this machine? Harvey Norman had it for $2050 on sale the other day. The girl told me that is the lowest that it would ever go as it was their cost price.

  • Hi leewsimpson, what Harvey Norman store did you see the Oracle on sale for $2050? thanks!

anyone else got a great deal recently? any feedback on the machine?

  • It was Aspley, Brisbane. The marked price was still $2499 but $2050 was the price they quoted me when I asked.

  • $1999 at David Jones for March 2015.

And that's without any haggling or begging.
