Gigabyte U24F - A good deal?

So I'm looking for a new laptop to buy and I came across the Gigabyte U24F. It has pretty good specs with:
-4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4500U 1.8-3.0GHz
-14" HD+ 1600x900 LCD screen
-8GB DDRIIIL RAM
-NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 750M 2GB with Nvidia optimus
-1 TB 5400rpm SATA hard drive disk
-D/H/W = 233/18.5 - 21/339 mm, Weight 1.69 kg

All of this costs around $1349 and i was going to use this laptop as my primary gaming device as I don't spend much time at home so I can't game on my desktop. Mostly, i'm going to be using this moderate gaming, casual usage, and also i need it to be light as i will be travelling a fair bit. I was hoping for advice as to whether this was a good laptop to buy as I'm relatively unsure about Gigabyte itself as to whether it is a good brand or not and also whether there are any other laptops which have around the same specs but for a cheaper price.

Thanks!

for gaming the video is not up to it and 14 " screen? at only 1650 x 1080

while it does have a i7 processor I run an i5 3750 in a desktop and play all modern games at decent fps using only HDMI 1920 x1080 48 "TV as a display no worries I dont think you will notice any difference between i5 and i7 for what you're doing

try these similar priced units with far better graphic capabilities and inclusions

    key feature is a 17 " screen & NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2 GB GDDR3 dedicated) video @1920 x 1080

while this is an amd powered unit it should perform well.

again the inclusion of a R9 M290 2Gb video delivering full hd (1920 x1080)is a deal clincher if I were in your position, I had a lesser spec MSI lappy for several years at college recently and solid reliable was the key for me.

hope this gives you the insight you need. Happy hunting

    • Thanks for your suggestions but I am looking for one which is lighter and good for transportation

  • the lighter a notebook is the more compromise you have on performance. This isn't a gaming laptop by any stretch, but will do nicely as an all rounder ultraportable.
