Kingston 32GB Compact Flash Card. $44.50 Incl Postage -COTD

40

32GB Compact Flash card. Have not seen them this price before. Used in some older DSLR cameras or can be used as a SSD using a simple cheap adapter (have done this to convert a thin client into a NAS with external drive)

  • 133x speeds…20MB per second read speeds, and 25MB per second write… Ehh….

    • Pretty sure 133X is the model, not a claim on the speed.

No, it means 133x 150 kB/s, which is 19950 kB/s, or roughly 20MB/s. So wisc is pretty much spot on

Are you implying anything with the F?

    • Oops -corrected

  • "Can be used as SSD" - are you sure? The rated speed is 25MB/second read and 20MB/second write speed…!!!

    • People use them as simple boot drives for IDE compatible PC's. Think Linux car mp3 players etc. CF cards are pin compatible with IDE harddrives. So you just need a cheap simple adapter to convert it into a harddrive.

    • I wish the new 64gb usb stick I got can do 20mb per second.

    The SSD of yesteryear :)

Actually CF cards are used in all all high end Canon SLR, not sure about Nikon because they are the most stable flash memory. This would be fine for single shot medium res, not really fast enough for video.
