Usual cycle of politics. Bleeding hearts spend like drunken sailors on disastrous policy implementation and handouts to their union mates for building overpriced school halls and dangerous insulation etc and the opposite party has to come in and be the bad guy to get the books back in order. Kind of like when the kids get hold of mum and dad's credit card number for their online video gaming account. Works great for a while but then the adults have to kill off all the fun to reign the $$ back in.
Anyone thinking that they will decrease their spending on pensions?
Lots of cuts and selling off more government assets. All in a bid of course to "fix the debt"…despite the fact that many other items that could earn revenue have or are going to be abolished (eg. profitable asset like Medibank).
