if you get $500 on that you'd be laughing

if you trade it in on a $50,000 BMW you might get a better trade but a car of that age is basically simsmetal

Better of just throwing that in the local paper for $1000 as is. T

The trade-in on a vehicle of that age will have little influence on the actual price you pay for the car at the end of the day.

  • Actually was offered $2000k for it so I take that offer. I wonder how much my datsun 240z is worth? Few mechanics mentioned its worth as much as a new commodore

2 million was a good deal, I think.

  • How much they offer also depends on the purchase price of the new car.

  • I bought a new Ford Focus Trend auto recently for $22,500 and my trade in for my 2007 Ford Focus with 86,000 km , was only $4,000. I was told by the dealer that there is no value for used cars as they would go straight to the auction rooms . Rent is too expensive to display used vehicles . No reasons to keep trade in vehicles in the car yards except the dealers own demo cars .

Would have been better to sell privately.

      • Not all people have that much time dealing with those "Buyers"

        • depends on what kind of shitheap you are selling

if you sell cheapo shithouse old cars expect to get riff raff

if you have a half way modern sought after car, expect to get more serious people

also, ANY car can sell given the correct price

if you're not getting the right response, i'd say your pricing is off

    • You got reamed. That car was worth at least 10k

      • I got $3000 for a 2002 Camry, the 2007 focus would definitely worth more.

      • you're assuming it was in good condition. A LOT of my clients are like "yeah, my car is as new", but only if you ignore the 9 dents, the heavy scratching, missing paint on all of the bumpers etc..

Also there is NO WAY a 2007 focus is worth 10k. If you're willing to pay that for one, i'll find you one and you can buy it off me :)

  • The local holden dealer here (wa) is advertising minimum 4k trade in

on what though? a full RRP Commodore Calais at $45k?

that sells for $39,990 at the next dealer no trade?

I think you would negotiate buying a car easier without a trade in being involved, always remember it's not the trade in value you are interested in but the "change over" cost.
Don't let the salesman mislead you by asking you how much you are looking for the trade in, he could offer you 2k and all it means is he will not move on the price of the one you are looking at.
Buy the new car then advertise the Mirage on Gumtree for 1k.
You could give it away and still be better off compared to trading it in
