Amaysim network on Moto G and LG Optimus G

Dear OZb members,

I have strange problem with mobile reception with Amaysim. I had HTC Sensation and had very poor reception with Amaysim. so i changed my phone and bought LG Optimus G and same problem continues. My wife has Moto G and we bought amaysim for her as well. Moto G gets excellent Amaysim network. So now we have two phone , same service provider but mobile network is pretty different. Moto G shows all the network bar and my Optimus G shows 1 or zero bars almost all the time at same places in my home. Does anyone know here potential problem? Has it anything to do with Mobile phone?

Thanks..

  • LG OG: GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, HSPA+21 Mbps 850/1900/2100 MHz, LTE Cat. 3 CSFB 700/1700 MHz**

    Moto G: WCDMA 850 / 1700 / 1900, GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

Optus uses 900 mainly so theoretically they should be the same.

Is your sim a very old one? I'm not sure if signal strength depends on the "health" of your sim card contacts (i.e. if they get dirty or corroded) but it's worth a shot putting your wife's into your phone and see if it makes a difference.

    Good luck =)

    • Thanks.. Sim is just few days old.. I tried swapping Sim and my sim get good network in moto g… So might be a problem with phone.. But the thing is I had sensation xe before optimum g and had same network problem with it also…

  • Are your phones grey imports or unlocked from other networks? Haven't had any problems with Amaysim with 3 phones of different brands now.

    • Optimum g is from JB hifi. HTC sensation and moto g are grey import.

  • Optus Dual Band Uses 900MHz and 2100MHz on 3g which comes under the WCDMA or HSPA that is where your problem will be looking at the bands above they are not suppported by those phones they are only telstra vodaphone 850MHz. i had a similar problem when with a phone before i knew about the network bands.

Amaysim uses Optus’s dual band network, so you can expect about 96% coverage within Australia if your phone supports 2100/900MHz.

    • I guess my Optimus G supports 2100/900 MHz.
