Nothing comes remotely close to this price ex Sydney, especially for direct flights. Price increases to $585 for travel post June. Unfortunately, ex Melbourne is way more expensive.

  Just make sure you go to Aitutaki (+ Lagoon Cruise to One Foot Island) as well, flights from Raro to there aren't exactly fit for OzBargain but it is an absolutely AMAZING place you will not regret visiting.

    They have been doing this for a long time, it's part of the reason they can offer $200 return fares to New Zealand. Their trans-Tasman flights have a LCC approach, nickel and dime for everything, while their Pacific flights have everything you need included.

  Note that accommodation here are quite expensive. in Dec 2012 the cheapest bungalow was about $700 per night

    Just checked for you. The cheapest fare around that time with AirNZ ex Brisbane to Rarotonga is dep June 5 ret June 12 for $968.

      Air New Zealand isn't the only company that flies to the cook islands. Alternatively, Virgin Australia can get you there Via Auckland for $788.
