[Recall] FREE: iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement Program

Moved to Forum: Original Link

This may or may not be considered a bargain, but I think it needs be brought to the attention of iPhone 5 owners that aren't aware of the program. For them, it could potentially be a $100+ bargain. Mods know best. Cheers.

available as of May 2, 2014 and only for certain iPhone 5's made in march 2013.. for everyone else with a newer phone it can be fixed under warranty anyway.. not sure if this should be a bargain too

    • Hi matt. Includes iPhones manufactured through to March 2013, not in March. Cheers.

my mistake, pretty good considering all of them phones would be out of warranty by now then and chances are they would swap for a refurb on the spot

  • my sister's iphone 5 had this fault on hers. took it to apple store and they replaced it.

    • Only if it was within warranty I would say. I doubt they will replace all the phones but more likely they would replace the button mechanism on the phone. The only bad thing is you are left without a phone for a few days.

      • yes, it was within the 2 years warranty.

  • My ip5 was out of warranty and hit this problem in Feb, but they just switched the phone for a brand new one on the spot. They said the button itself can't be replaced and they can only give you a new unit. I wasn't complaining :D
I guess it'd depend on the "genius" you get, and how nice they feel.

  • All apple products bought in Australia carry 1 year warranty then an addition 1 year of consumer law, effectively giving you 2 years. This program is only really helpful if you bought an iphone from overseas and it's over the 1 year warranty. The program itself has a number of requirements and involves sending the iphone back. If you take it to the apple store they will swap it on the spot.
