Live Connected $5 plan 2 years over

Hi all,

I have been on a Live Connected Lite plan for $5.00 per month. It includes 100MB of data and $100 of calls/sms +$100 to Live Connected network per month.

It has been the perfect plan for me.

Unfortunately 2 years are over now. Can I expect to get the plan cancelled?

Any alternatives for a "lite" phone user?

I went with Amaysim PAYG and just bought a 1gb data pack for $10/month with TextSecure and RedPhone I don't pay a thing for most calls/txts the ones I need to, I use VoIP.

      • Thanks fruit…it seems like a good plan for my son too.

      • I also bought 1gb data pack to test Amaysim. Unfortunately because they bill per MB Amaysim does not work for me.

  • I'm coming up on two years and hope they just let it continue on instead of being so greedy

  • i'm on a grandfather plan as well.

did they give you a message they were ending your service? D:

    • No ending service notification received yet. But I was reading that this is common practice with live connected…
If I receive a cancellation or offer for higher fees I probably go Prepaid.

      • common practice to abruptly cancel your postpaid phone service?

        • Apparently common practice by Vaya / Live Connected to dishonor the cheap plans which do not exist anymore after 2 years are over on the postpaid service.

        • oh dear, will i lose my number if that happens? :(

        • No, they would offer you a new contract (most likely more expensive). Then there is still time to port out your number if you don't want to accept the new conditions…

  • I was on my plan for 2 years and 7 months. so might still have a while to go

  • I knew it, received the notification a few days ago. Plan will cost me double now for the same service.

I will not continue this plan and looking for an alternative. The best would be a cheap 500MB data plan, I could use voip. Anything in the $5.00 region?

  • If you signed a monthly plan where you get a bill they can't force you to change the plan. Telstra always says the plan is unavailable now and you have to change. That is untrue!! If they call you tell them your are happy and not ready to make a decision. Tell them to call back in a couple of months

    • Im 98% sure this wont happen, this fiasco occurred earlier this year. If you dont do anything, you will automatically get transferred to their new plan (which should be noted in the email). If you dont like it, they will suggest you to port to somewhere else, theres really no negotiation.

      • You're right. You will have to pay the $9.90 plan freeze fee which they add automatically or cancel your plan (atleast this is the case for the $11.90 plan) . See this post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/154778 As many have said though they still charge per kb unlike vaya and others who charge per mb so if you use a bit of data it's still got some of the better plans.
