New gTLD - .bargains!

So I noticed that there is now a .bargains available, and was going to suggest grabbing oz.bargains … But it's specifically excluded!! Considering the size of the exclusion list, compared to any other gTLD, it's kind of surprising that it's on there.

Question: Does OzB really have that much of a presence that we angered the ICANN gods??? ;)

  • I am moving this to "Internet" forums rather than a discussion about OzBargain.

Not too sure about the gTLD delegation process. For the second level domain block list — is that provided by ICANN or by the gTLD applicant (Half Hallow, LLC)?

  • New gTLDs are a way for corporations to take a greater hold on the net.

Also, who runs .bargains DNS? You are better off sticking with the tried and true.

    • Well the roots are the same as every other TLD.. So nothing has changed there.

And how does it give corps more control? O_o

"Oh no, they now have iPhone.apple!!" ???

  • Not really a networking guy… but…

read it was a bad idea to use TLDs that's longer than the original 2~3 chars…

some dns servers does not recognize and resolve them very well…

and better not use .local, I read it screws up intranets somewhere cant find the article anymore…
