Ghibli Blu-Rays (HD Remastered) Totoro, Nausicaa, Ponyo, Laputa etc $24 Each + $5 Capped Delivery

470

Mighty Ape have some great specials on the Studio Ghibli Blurays, which in my understanding have been remastered and much better quality than the DVDs. Read here for more info on the remastering: http://www.ghiblicentral.com/2013/08/blu-ray-review-nausicaa…

Totoro, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa, Earthsea, Laputa, Whisper of the Heart are all $24.

DHL Express Shipping is $5 extra.

Some of these titles may have been cheaper in the past but now they just seem to be getting more and more expensive. Their RRP is $39.95

Cant wait for the Mononoke remaster! (alas no special for that yet!)

This is not too bad considering, but the one title that is missing (and long overdue for release) is Spirited Away… The DVD transfer wasn't that crash hot in my mind so I can't wait for it to come out on bluray with better sound and image quality..

For anyone interested in the ghibli blurays, and that really should be everyone on the entire planet, some of you might not know that each region bluray is different. From the picture and sound bitrate, to the extras. Its pretty frustrating when one region has an awesome extra that the other doesnt. And worst of all none of them are region free. This link has plenty of info on most of the titles. Its pretty cool.

And I should add that site has the best bluray reviews around.

  • will they ever bring out the bluray boxset, i have seen the dvd boxset, but not bluray

    • +1

Heh, they'll probably bring it out when 4k/UHD media starts rolling out, then you'll be waiting for the 4k/uhd boxed set as they roll out the individual movies on 4k/uhd… :)

The DVD box sets available for sale are all fake. Ghibli only ever released one DVD set that had something like nine movies only, only half of the movies released. This box set was released in Japan only AFAIK and has been sold out and out of production for many years. All box sets you see on ebay even Amazon are fake. Especailly the "Malaysian Government Licensed/authorised" ones.

The ONLY way to own the whole collection is to purchase the movies individually.

+1 for Ghibli stuff!!! But must resist….. >.< must wait til a box set or collector's edition….

I love Ghibli, but these are still so expensive, despite blu-ray prices falling to more sensible levels in the last few years.

Maybe I'll upgrade all my Ghiblis to HD when the price finally becomes reasonable…

Sadly they still don't have a Bluray for Spirited Away. I've been waiting so long for that one to get remastered. For some reason they won't do it, but they'll do older ones.

If you have a child, buy these.

But they do seem to mostly be $29 now with free shipping. Guess to many people were buying too many at once.
