  • I am with NIB and get 85% on massages with annual limit of $500.

This is regardless of 30 min or 1 hour

    • Can't find this offer.
At best it was 75% back, up to $400 p.a.
      Was roughly >%85 per month.

Maybe they aren't offering it anymore.

      • Yeah they don't have those plans anymore. Was looking back in March and it was only 75%.

  • I read on the age a few months back that insurers might be paring back the massages offered. This is due to too many dodge places offering "massages" when it really is offering a happy ending.

Sorry i am of no help, but i thought i'd share that in case it might help answer any difficulties you may have in finding the legitimate benefit.

  • We are with AHM and get $31 regardless of 30 mins or an hour up to $500 per individual or $1000 per family. This limit is shared by other alternative therapies as well including Reflexology, Shiatsu, Homeopathy, Myotherapy…etc etc

  • Nib $500 isnt enough…

ahm give 65% off for 1.5k max accross the board, not neough id have to spend $800 to get back 2.3k… ok but not great.

  • I get $44.30 back each time through Medicare (Basic Extras) for Remedial Massage.

  • Sorry, limit is $450 - basic extras 70.

  • I keep this updated from time to time but checkout this link from my google doc's (not all prices are correct with aprils changes and the GHMF PLATINUM has been removed for new users & percentages are often near guesses to generate a score down the bottom)

AHM Lifestyle is about the best value, with dental inc (about $35 after rebates)

Mildura health have inc a new plan I'm yet to add called 5 STAR Extras $64 (after rebates) and they offer a real cheap (no dental) offer called AC plus about $22 a month and offers $540 in chiro and give $27 back per visit + optical

enjoy and use the gov website to find a policy you like www.privatehealth.gov.au

and don't be lazy and use comparison websites as they only compare a few plans they get paid to on sell!

YOU CAN HAVE HOSPITAL AND EXTRAS WITH DIFFERENT PROVIDERS AND YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN 1 EXTRAS POLICY BUT NOT WITH THE SAME PROVIDER. LOADING IS ADDED ONLY TO HOSPITAL AND NEVER TO EXTRAS, THE REBATE HAS DROPPED AND IS NOW 29.04% FROM THE PREVIOUS 30% AS OF APRIL1

    • RELAX
      I mean r-e-l-a-x

  • RE-READ YOUR POST T1OOO &….

    Question, how much do you pay for 1hr massage? & at 25 a year, that once per fortnight… So here is a suggestion;

you can have more than 1 extras and they still get the 29.04% gov rebate (as of april1'14) so you could sign up for the Mildura A1 at about $20 per month (after rebate) and you can claim $540 in massage's and get $27 back which is 20 massages until you have used it up and claim the optical and that means you have covered the cost in premiums over the 12 months!

And you can add it on. The ONLY time you can't is when its with the same providers but add MDHF a1 and your current one isn't a problem (don't mention it, its NOT illegal but they get snarky) and all you do is when you use up one, you use the other one until its entitlements are exhausted. Ive checked with the GOV HEALTH on the phone and i can now personally confirm it works!

And i would change from BUPA as they are now not good value (ignore if your happy and you have one of the old discontinued plans) and MEDIBANK/AHM (SAME COMPANY NOW) or another provider offer much better plans/offers now…. BUPA always give a low claim level and low limits for massage, even on top plans! GHF HEALTHN LITE EXTRAS is better value than almost any BUPA extras offering at a fraction the price with $500 in massage and they pay $21 back!!!

I should add, health funds are getting meaner on levels and rebates, while escalating premiums! ONLY medibank top 85 gives a guaranteed percentage on $400 of massage; but dam you pay for it in premiums! So always add in the premium with the amount back and you can shop around for a better deal (on massages) as i get 1/2 for $25 on the SSC and an hour in most shopping centres for $55
and post your decision or query's so others can help and we can get some closure…
