2006 Honda accord euro fuel: 95RON or e10

Just bought an 06 Honda accord euro, redbook says 95RON is recommended. In the fuel cap area it says it can take e10. So; 95,e10 or just go for plain old 91?

What are the cons for going with e10?

Go with what's recommend. Simple as that. I have an 05 and only 95 goes in it. E10 has ethanol in it. Supposedly bad for cars components however given Mr Honda has given it the OK and I'm sure have spent millions on r&d its a safe bet for the car. Don't put 91 in it, I know this is ozbargain but put what the car is designed to take.

E10 is a false economy for me anyway - fuel consumption in my crv is higher when using e10 (abt 10% higher) to the point where it ends up costing about the same as 95. 95 is better for your car and will give you slightly better performance too, plus I save time not needing to fill up as often.

  • Go with 95 if that is recommended. E10 has about 3% less energy content than ulp91 and a bit more for 95ron so the perceived savings of e10 is less.

  • Check out the e10 in 7-eleven stations. They use 94 as the base for e10 fuel instead of most commonly used 91

  • Don't bother with E10 in Hondas…Especially Euro… needs 95 premium…I had Euro and now own non euro accord and they both hated E10…while my xr6 loves it…My current accord is approved to use E10 but drives like it wants to fall apart every time I fill up ethanol…
