HTC One Mini vs iPhone 5

I currently own an iPhone 5 and was thinking of getting the HTC One Mini ( from COTD's $350 deal atm)

But I wanted to know what people think about the HTC One Mini from experience?

Main concern is battery life and just general usability compared to an iPhone 5.

Open to suggestions of other phones around that price range !

get the htc one. dont go for a mini.

  • One thing that might be worth checking out - if your iphone 5 battery seems especially poor take it to an apple store, they can run a diagnostic to see if there's anything wrong with it, if it's faulty it might be covered under warranty. A friend of mine bought from the apple store and got battery replaced under warranty on the spot.

The HTC one and mini look and feel great, highly spec'd and IMO are quite easy to navigate and use. Customising is a big draw card of android, an example of what you can do is below:

I like my iphone because of the ios updates, high residual value, a couple specific apps on App Store I couldn't find good Android equivalents for, and for FaceTime (most of my family have ios devices). My previous handset was a Samsung galaxy s2.

For the bargain asking price, bigger screen, and more "wow" factor than an ios device it's hard to pass up the deal on the mini. If possible have a play around on a friends or in a shop to see if it's worth changing over - I usually try save money and use what I have till at least I'm out of contract, especially if it's still a high end handset!

    • Thanks for the detailed response !

Yeah, I was really thinking of doing that too.. my battery will barely last me 3 hours if im just facebooking/imessaging friends… and it repeatedly 'dies and dislays the charger icon ' even when its around 60%.. then 5 minutes later I can turn it on by holding the lock button again.. this happens about 10 times a day…

      • Tempo is correct,
Take you phone in to an Apple retail store, it should still be covered under consumer law.
What you have described sounds like it could be a battery issue (although I have heard of that sometimes being a software issue).

        Good luck
