Wii U Premium - Super Mario Bundle at $378 plus delivery (delivery to most suburbs nationwide was $5
and from experience Big W shipping was pretty fast via courier). You can click and collect in some stores.

The bundle includes:

the Wii U Premium Console (32gb black version vs the standard 8gb white version),

Super Mario Brothers U and Super Luigi U game,

Plus standard controller etc.

RRP from JBHiFi is $428 (price is the same as most other stores; however,JBHiFi currently also includes FIFA 13 game in addition) so $50 saving as per what the Big W site says. I've seen Big W advertise at this price before though so not sure if this is always an 'online only' special.

Note that the Mario Kart 8 premium bundle is available for preorder and you get to download a game free with that (and Super Mario is one of those game options) but still a good price none the less.

  • OP I don't think this contains Nintendoland, not that it negates the bargain.

This is effectively like buying the mario kart 8 bundle (buy that game separately), and pay $18 extra for two more good games.

Seems worth it to buy it now than later. I'm guessing price won't come down to beat this until around christmas.

Well looks like this is the time I finally buy a wii u. I hope I don't regret it.

    • Yeah no Nintendoland in Mario/Luigi bundles

      • And no extra controller like the monster hunter bundle. Also its worth noting you can't use the tablet for a player in multi in Mario bros if your playing more than a one player game. (Note that you can in m3d land)

        • Wait, so if you're playing 2 player the tablet CAN be a controller, but if you're playing 3 then the tablet CANT be a controller?

        • Iwas under the impression that you could go as far as playing 5 players with the tablet :O Provided the fifth guy does nothing but troll.

Highly recommend everyone waits till after E3 in case of an official price drop. Not to mention the fact Wii U is selling worse then any other nintendo home console in the companies history.

          Bigger price cuts are incoming….

        • +1

Good idea to wait. E3 is on 10th June & we have till 31st July to buy MK8.

        • Nah, If you're playing 1 player, you can use the tablet as a player. If you're playing 2 player, you can't use the tablet as a character, its like some invisible trolling tool when you play with more than one player.

    • You can pick up Nintendoland for anywhere between 20 to 30 dollars from preowned EB, Ebay, or JB sales, if it's that much of a deal breaker.

      • Or 10 bucks from cash converters if you get lucky like this guy. Also, its not much of a game.

        • Nah not really, but I quite like the time I spent with it, though some of the games show that the tech still isn't perfect.

  • Such a strange coincidence, l was just dreaming about whether I should buy a wii u or not. The cost of all the extra controllers to play local multiplayer is really prohibiting me at the moment.

    • Also note you need some Wii motes for any old Wii games or the Wii marketplace.

    • EVERYBODY has old Wii remotes lying around :)

      • unfortunately I don't :( Never had a Wii.

      • Can't be old wiimotes, have to have the wii mote plus, or the wii mote plus addon to be used with actual wii u games.

        • Wrong.

mate, you can grab these second hand at some EB games - 20 bucks with 3 mo warranty. If you sift through what theyve got, there are good ones to be had

Mate I had the same thoughts, ended up getting a few of these. Good quality and perfect for couch mp.

You could always get WIi Party U to up the controller count :D

Don't forget; free game with any purchase of Mariokart at the end of the month. Makes buying in worth it.

    • Thanks heaps for all the replies!

If you do end up buying pre-owned wii-motes, remember to get the Wii-Motion-Plus ones. Not sure if the old ones even work on the Wii-U, but they are packaging the plus inside the remotes on manufacture these days.

maybe a better deal depending on what you prefer, the deal to look out for though is the skylanders bundle for ~$250, if they bring it back.

  • Thanks Trent for fixing up the post reference Nintendoland, I thought that was a standard like the old Wii Sports.

I was torn between this or the Skylanders bundle ($299) for my nephews birthday and even though the difference between the Wii U versions (Black and White, storage etc) aren't life changing, for some reason I'm drawn more to the Premium as the black is less likely to pick up that nice brown yellow tinge from little dirty hands!

  • How come there is a Affiliate link on this now? I never put any affiliate link in this posting?

    • Oh looked it up, so this is a way Ozbargain recoups some of it's running cost. Fair enough then. Just wasn't sure and noticed it had changed to an affiliate link.

    • what link are you talking about? There shouldn't be a affiliate link for Big W

      • If you look at the picture when not logged in it says Affiliate, I thought that indicated it was an affiliate link? Happy to be corrected.

        • haha i see, just never noticed it because i'm always logged in

  • I've done some calculations (and shopping around) today.

This is a decent deal since the price of the Wii U is going up again now that Nintendo are getting their act together since Mario World 3D came out. I don't think we'll be seeing $260 Wii U deals anymore until the next generation of consoles come out.

Getting this gives me 1.5 games that I most wanted from the console. Couple that with Mario Kart 8 + free game deal will get me something decent for free.

    • Thanks for the link could have done with some totals.
I've been eyeing off getting one too now MK8 is coming out. I was thinking about the MK8 bundle until I saw that in the US they get an extra controller - which make we not want to support them giving us a worse deal.

      • wtf we lose out on a controller? lol that blows

totals… wouldn't really make much sense because it depends on what you want. too many combinations that nobody would care about

        • Yep.
          US$330
          http://www.gamespot.com/articles/mario-kart-8-for-wii-u-lets…
          vs
          AUD$429
          http://techgeek.com.au/2014/04/25/mario-kart-8-premium-wii-u…

I only have a couple of original Wii controllers so getting one of the newer (more accurate) ones with the console would sell me on the higher price (I know the US has tax after the advertised price but it still an annoying difference to me to be about USD$90 cheaper and a controller) .. I find it odd too none of the news (aussie) sites seem to have noticed this.

I guess they know MarioKart will sell lots of controllers (multiplayer).

EDIT: After making that statement I went looking again - it seems the US version is a DELUXE premium edition with the controller and it looks like the same will be available in the UK for more then the premium bundles RRP - so it might come here but will cost even more still.

    • I don't think we'll be seeing $260 Wii U deals anymore until the next generation of consoles come out.

Isn't it a little too early jumping to that conclusion…$268.

On the contrary, I think the prices will stay put & they will rely on MK8, SSB-U & Zelda-U (next yr?) to push consoles out & make up revenue. My 2c.

      • Your 2c is completely reasonable and I wholeheartedly agree. Towards the end of the year we'll hear the "NINTENDO IS GOING BANKRUPT!" Doomhorns start to quiet as everyone buys a Wii-U for teh Smash Bruz.

Except it's on 3DS as well. Which I can't tell if it's a great idea to move the software, or a bad idea to stop the moving of Wii-U consoles.

Don't forget; Retro is working on "An untitled Wii-U game". I'm banking on this being amazing; retro rarely disappoints (Though Donkey-Kong-U didn't tick quite as many boxes as Returns did, in my opinion. Gosh it was pretty though)

And Satoru said "Metroid on the Wii-U is inevitable."

      • Hey GUF,

The skylander one is the basic (white) bundle.
This is a premium (black) bundle.

    • By the way the Wii U is selling (or not selling more like it) I think we'll see a big old price drop relatively soon.

Nintendo shipped 300k consoles last quarter worldwide. Not sold, shipped. They initially predicted sales of 10 mil for the year, they ended up with just over 3.5. They've now only predicted that they'll sell ~3.6 million consoles in the next 12 months. The Wii U is basically dead, and unless Mario Kart 8 and the next Smash Brothers go on to sell 20+ million copies and push consoles like literally no game ever has, it won't last another 2 years at the very longest.

      • Which is a shame, considering the quality of games coming out for it when compared with the lackluster titles on the bone and the PS4.

I have taken to saying "Still better than Ryse" as a moniker not dissimilar to "Still a better love story than Twilight" as a result.

        • Yeah it's a shame, the console is fantastic IMO.

        • It could come back. Nintendo just needs to know they've lost the casual market to smartphones and tablets; and honestly I think they do know that. It's all just a waiting game.

It's quickly becoming another Gamecube; a serious console with an immense library of unique gems overshadowed by its more powerful Sony and Microsoft brothers.

        • Have you ever stopped to consider maybe it was the naming which brought it down? People who aren't seriously into gaming maybe thought it was just an HW addon/expansion/accessory to the Wii so didn't pay much attention to it…

        • Also the controller probably cost a buttload back in the day when they mass produced them.

        • I have considered that. Really the only people who aren't clueless at naming consoles seems to be Sony, these days.

Although I am quite happy to call the new microsoft console the Bone, I thank them immensely for the opportunity.
