Woolworths EDR save $10 when you spend x

Has anyone else received this targeted email offer? Mine was spend $30 receive $10 off (a fantastic offer IMO) as I have not used my EDR card in a while. I activated it in the email link but the discount was not applied when I scanned my card at the (self) check out. I paid anyway and took the receipt to the customer service desk and the woman said they'd had the same thing happen to someone else that day. She gave me $10 from the till and said it'd probably work next time, meaning I can (possibly) redeem this fantastic offer again.

Has anyone else who received this email experienced any issues?

    This sounds like a good offer. I haven't had one like that before but I use my card most weeks so I doubt I'd get anything that good.

    I don't have any answers as to why it didn't work after you activated the offer, but I can give you some speculations.

    1. A problem with either your account or a problem with the supermarket being temporarily offline with EDR at the time of the transaction.

    2. The transaction was outside the offer period. For example, the offer was sent on a Sunday for a Monday start date or the offer was taken up after the expiry date. Sometimes the timing of the email versus the timing of the offer is very unusual.

    3. A problem with reading the barcode on your card. Was there a notation on the receipt to say a fuel voucher had been added to card xxxx? This would verify that the card was scanned properly. If there was a paper voucher for the transaction then the card probably didn't scan properly.

    Good luck with things. It's great that the staff gave you the $10 from the customer service till. Well done.

      g'day, thanks for the feedback.

      The offer was emailed to me and is valid from the 10th-16th May.

      The card definitely scanned properly as my recepit showed up as having the 4c/L off thing, and I did buy a couple of EDR special items (Jamie Oliver pasta) which had their discount applied after I scanned the card. So I guess #1 is a definite possibility.

      I think what I might do is go in between now and the 16th and try it again anyway and see if it works (might go to a checkout operator this time and see if it makes a difference). Woolworths have some good specials on stuff I often buy this week anyway, so if the $10 doesn't come off, no big deal really.

    Mine worked. $10 off a $30 shop today. Haven't used edr in probably 3Yeats (coles normal shop)

    My Dad also received the spend $30 get $10 off - which is a great offer! He used the self serve checkout and scanned his Everyday Rewards card which worked and applied the $10 discount.

    I received this offer last week 21-27/5/14 and used it on Tuesday last week, then a few days later received the $10 off $30 spend offer for this week 28/5-3/6/14 which ended today so I tried to use it tonight and it didn't work. I had to show the email on my phone to prove I received the offer and they gave me a $10 discount manually instead as they couldn't get my card to scan properly.
    So if anyone gets this offer next week and it doesn't scan they can find a way.

    Got two of these.. one in mid November and one in early January for the same card #. Was planning on using the Jan one that expired yesterday but forgot.. doh. Oh well maybe I will get another one soon hehe
