Website Unique Mobiles sending used Grey Import instead of AU stock

Hi All,

Based on the promotional email from unique mobile dated 28th April. I had purchased Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505.

The phone received was an open box with even screen protector on it and pre downloaded applications like trip advisor and it did not even ask for first time setup on first boot. So it was definitely not a new phone. It was not even an AU stock as mentioned on the website and promotional email. The box back text was in French. How can an Australian stock mobile phone have a French language box ? It is cheating and robbery in daylight. I bought this phone for mothers day and could not gift it to her knowing that it was used and not right phone.

It is so annoying that you order a phone and wait for it for more than a week with money paid and they send used and non AU stock. Most people will just ignore and will be too excited to see the new phone.

I have taken pictures of the phone and the box and can share if required.

Emailed Unique Mobiles and nobody even bothers to pick the phone. Emails takes days to reply. The phone was shipped by Celltech Technologies. Called Celltech and they insisted that the french box is AU stock and they have sent the right one. Final solution provided by them was to send the phone back and they will refund. Now i have to wait for a couple of weeks for refund to come through. It was very unpleasant experience and i would not recommend anyone buying from Unique mobiles again.

Hope others are benefited from this post.

Cheers

I would amend the title. Describing what happened "Unique Mobiles sent used grey import rather than new AU stock" is one thing, but calling someone "cheater and scammer" is something else.

    • Changed as suggested. Thanks.

  • -OP has ordered a phone at a good price. However, upon receiving it, the phone is not as described.

-Has emailed company, but they have not picked up the phone.

-The company will now refund once the phone is returned.

I have a B & M shop, so I should really stick the boots into On-line shopping, but that would be Hardly Normal.

I think the OP is going a bit nuclear with "cheater and scammer" tag. More of a stuff up than a conspiracy ?

    • It depends if it was good faith or negligence or fraud.
If this is just an accident that's ok, but if Unique Mobiles were unreasonable in their handling of stock and that caused the mix-up then it's bad.
Worse is if Unique Mobiles have knowingly been misrepresenting the goods they were selling.

I recently have discovered the same issue. I was trying to claim warranty in Samsung Australia who refused later and they told me the item was not local stock (I was shock there).

I turned to Unique Mobiles and they acknowledged the "mis-shipment", but could not help anything since phone had been faulty now.

So I will lodge dispute to Civil $ Administrative Tribunal
