Surprise presents for girlfriend in Paris?

So I have a girlfriend currently living in Paris. Wanted to start sending her little (or bigger) gifts direct to her address via Amazon or whatever. This is in the lead up to me going to visit in July.

If anyone has any great ideas, or sees something online which would be great to send to her, that'd be very much appreciated!

I was inspired by the success of this thread:

… I'm secretly hoping she reads that thread to its conclusion for ideas for a welcome present… but who knows.

You have a girlfriend living in France & you want to surprise her? Show up a week early, I bet all THREE of you will be surprised!

As per the other thread, how about "a good old fashioned bj"? That would certainly be surprising!

  • Bonsoir,Herzy. Comment ca va?
You sound like a very sweet, romantic man:) wish I could help, but its really hard to buy a gift for a woman. we're all so different. Maybe you could tell us a bit more about your girlfriend. How long have you known each other? Is it Le Grand Amour? What does she like?..etc

    Edit:

I'm secretly hoping she reads that thread to its conclusion for ideas for a welcome present… but who knows.

So you're hoping she'll greet you with food and a bj.So much for sweet and romantic man ;)So the little gifts is more to get into her good books than anything else.

Bonsoir Wicket1120! Ca va bien merci

Never professed to sweet and romantic, but I am a man afterall.

Yep agreed, I was thinking little things like books - the idea is more the surprise of getting something in the mail from me, rather than the gift itself.

We met in Europe a while ago, were together for 6 months, and I had to go back to Australia for 3 months. Heading back for a job in Paris.

Nothing to tell really, she's a sweet girl who would be excited by much the same things as most other girls I imagine. Again, I'm not looking for huge pricey perfect gifts to woo her, just a thing or two to remind her I'm thinking of her.

How much is a return ticket to Charles de gaulle? on top of that she expects gifts? Has she sent you any gifts? if she hasn't, then don't either. I'm all for wooing your woman, but only if she woos you too.

    • I hate to say this but I agree with JJB:

I'm all for wooing your woman, but only if she woos you too

Thought I'd share this just in case

      • ^ That escalated quickly!

I think the difference isn't that she expects gifts, but I wanted to give her a few little things/build up the excitement for when I arrive…

She's done more than enough to woo me (hence me going to Paris)!

        • Desolee herzy :( i shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. But Sweet, romantic men sometime get taken advantage of…

        • No, it's a valid concern! I just meant it escalated quickly from me wanting to make a nice gesture, to her being high maintenance :P

i apologise too. I was being cynical and I should know better.
I fell in love with someone who lived overseas too.we met at uni here in Oz but after she graduated she packed her suitcase to go back to her home country. It was only when I was giving her a final hug at Tulla, that I realised that I couldn't let her go and I blurted "Please don't go! Marry me!" She left.
she called me back 13hrs later, the minute her plane had landed and said yes.It took us about 3 months to organise for a prospective fiance visa for her to get back to oz. I can't remember if I've sent her any gifts during that time but I remember how excited I would get whenever she would txt, email and how we both looked forward to our nightly msn messenger chat. That was in 2003.
A couple of weeks ago , she was looking for some documents she needed for a job application and I noticed a familiar note. It was a quickly scribbled 2 line note, where i had written: "hang in there, baby". I had drawn a little heart, followed by my initial. I must have sent that note while sending her some of the paperwork to organise her visa. She's kept it for more than a decade.

I must stop cutting onions while reading OzB posts like this.

(seriously though, sweetest post ever. tears welling up.)

It really weirds me out that your pic/avatar looks exactly like my ex, glasses, hair and all. You probably look nothing alike if the pic was full sized though lol. Maybe everyone looks similar squished into a 1cm cube.

Very similar story with the blurting (minus the marraige)! Not sure how it'll end, but can definitely relate. Thanks for sharing, congratulations to both of you…

        • Thanks herzy:)

        • @WT: I can confirm he is very good looking in person, if slightly geeky;)

        • nawww you guys are totally a couple, aren't you! :D

How about a hand written letter along with something 'Australian' maybe some Tim tams? A care pack filled with small items that'll show her a little bit more about yourself and australia?

    This. Obviously.

    • The first FANTASTIC suggestion! Cheaper than I would have expected, too…
