Mario Kart 8 demo playable at Target

The Wii Us at Targets now have Mario Kart 8 in them so yeah, go play it. One thing I noted from the demo is that there were jagged edges everywhere. It could of been the TV or maybe its because its a demo (I played sunshine airport) but its kind of distracting.

p.s. Circle Pad Pros are $10 at Target. But don't only 5 or 6 games support it?

  • Off the top of my head Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Kid Icarus and Metal Gear Solid 3.

    • Good luck in any water battles in mh3u without it.

      • I'm fine without it, tried it on my XL and returned it to EB tbh. I just use the large D-Pad option on the touch screen and it works great.

        • You are crazy sir.

Thinking about it, I really just play MH on the wii u now, but I guess MH4 will eventually come out and its looking like it might be 3DS only so I guess I'll keep the circle pad.

        • Have you tried with the enlarged DPad option on the touchscreen? I couldn't stand the bulk of the CPP. I have on for the original 3DS that feels better but I prefer the big screen.

        • I like the feel of the 3DSXL one, doesnt feel any heavier than the Wii u controller, lol.

Of course there were jagged edges. What'd you expect, Xbone graphics?

Would you prefer if it looked nice and was awful; you know, like Ryse? And everything else on the bone.

I'll just see you guys from neg-land.

  • AFAIK Mario Kart isn't running at 1080p. Even then, there will be jaggies, since you need AA to get rid of it (PS4's Infamous has this). It's running at 60fps, though, which is impressive.

      Dose InFamous faces tho.

      It is running at 1080p @ 60fps.

OP: Which Target? It wasn't at the one local to me when I was there on the weekend. Going to have to go and check out Target again this weekend it would seem.

      • Penrith and Wetherill Park Stocklands.

        • Thanks.

Shame Penrith is so far away :(

Some articles state 1080p60, but it hasn't been confirmed by Nintendo. That's why some other articles state that it's an assumption only.

  • oh my god! I've gotta go play it!

and about the Pro controller, I don't know but I've heard people complaining that it's not supported very well.

    • Eh, I'm just gonna use the Gamepad, because I actually like it a lot. Can't wait until a game actually uses it lol. There was a whole 3 levels in Super Mario 3D World that utilised touch or blowing on the microphone (Not actually the purpose of a microphone you know, Nintendo).

      • Pikmin 3 is playable without the gamepad but the gamepad really helps.

        • That's nearly the definition of everything on the platform (Except Monster Hunter 3 that makes no difference. Actually, microphone handy for online. Jeez, guess it does suit)

        • The item menu on the touchpad kinda helps and you can play on the pad itself in monster hunter.

        • Yeah I like the gamepad for Monster Hunter.

    • It would be almost identical to Mario Kart Wii's Gamecube controller support. The only game so far that I've seen (doesn't mean all) that doesn't properly support the pro controller is Nintendoland, and that's a Gamepad demo.

      • I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm stil waiting for the DND game Penny Arcade tried to inspire where one person plays the dungeon master and 4 people play with controllers and adventure.

        • That would be an awesome game, there are so many cool couch co-op and single player stuff that could be done with the second screen

  • Im looking forward to this! The demo surprised me a little with a few jaggies but maybe the retail version will be a little tidier.

Gonna love playing this with my girlfriend!

  • Have target release a price for it yet?

    • $58 at BigW, they aren't gonna beat that.

      • They will match it though. Match with staff discount, woot!
