  • so once you have used up your credit for that month does the service stop?

There will be extra charges charged at the specified rate of you plan
This will keep going until it hits the $20 (from memory) mark and stop (this is a feature you turn on)

So max monthly charge will be plans cost + $20.

Then thats when you get that auto ban form calling (000 still works)

    • How do you set the $20 feature on??? Not that I think I'll ever go over the quota but just in case :)

  • Unless you're going for their smallest plan, most of the others have fairly high inclusions - do you really think you'd use up all that call credit? Data could be an issue, but depending on your device you should set up a data counter app, and monitor your reported data on the Vaya website (I think it's near-live?).

  • well i wanna go with plan 18 i dont think i can use it all up
but i wanna be sure just incase i did, so theres no feature you can turn on to stop calling ect. when credits all used up

  • word of warning, they're parent company of LC which virtually screwed thousands of their customers off recently..

so yea, if you ask me, i would avoid them ..it might be cheap now, but they will screw you over in future

    • All mobile companies (if they charge for excess use) do that to their customers that go over the limits. If you are sensible about your usage then you should never go over the limits. Lets be honest if you spend more than $550 on calls, then you are on the phone too much and deserve to be ripped off. You can also login and check how much you have used at anytime. Plus they send you an SMS when you reach set percentages like 50, 75 & 90 so you have plenty of warning.

I've been with them for about 6 months and have never had an issue with them!!!

  • I have family members and friends on Vaya and so far as I know, no one has ever gone over the limit so far. The $18 plan is pretty generous, particularly with free Vaya to Vaya calls.
But, my understanding of and experience with Prepaid phones is this; when you hit your limit, you recharge and get another month. When I hit my credit limit in 16 days, I just recharged. No hidden fees, which seems to me the whole point of going Prepaid in the first place.

  • I've been using Vaya since September last year and until April I haven't had any issues. I am on their $18/month plan. I rarely use my phone's data as I have wifi at work and at home. The bill for April came in and they have charged me $444. They claim that I downloaded 12 Gb of data!!!! They can't find the itemisation that proves this. I am devastated. My phone's data usage says I used 237 Mb of data.

Apart from the cost that is involved with this, my main problem is - (If my phone actually did download that much data - and I dispute the possibility) - Why did Vaya allow the problem to accrue until I have to pay so much money?

I would never recommend Vaya. Their phone support is dreadful. 3 times now they have promised to call me back, and they never have. I have been trying to get this looked into for over 2 weeks.

    • Like I said previously all companies would do this, especially if their systems tell them you used more data than the limit. I'm 110% sure they aren't trying to rip you off. In regards to your concern to put it bluntly it's not Vaya's problem if your phone is downloading too much data.

When it comes to mobiles you just need to know your rights. If you aren't having any luck with the customer service put in a complaint with TIO (Telephone industry ombudsman) on 1800 062 058. Vaya then need to get back to you within 14 days I think. If you're not happy you go back to the TIO until a resolution is found.

  • Log onto Vaya website, go to forum (Report a problem) post your gripe with them. They usually deal with it within a reasonable time. If not happy with them, just keep posting. The will get the message.
