Playing DVD movies from different regions on your PC anytime you want...

Anyone has successfully done it?
My laptop DVD was set to region 4 but yesterday I bought a DVD from region 1 and since I couldn't make it play I switched the region, I can change it back but I was wondering if there is a way to make it region 0, that is, able to play any region DVDs… bte, DVDfab passkey was useless… it did not make the region 1 DVD play while the region 4 was enforced.

ANyDVD from slysoft. Just make sure you don't change the region to many times on the drive as it will lock on the 5th change to that region. Though ultimately a region bypasser will negate that anyway.

  • DVD43 is free and makes your PC essentially region free for DVD.

I'd link it but I'm at work, sorry! Quick google search will find it I'm sure~

  • VLC will simply play anything.

    • VLC does not bypass region restrictions.

      • "VLC is one of the free software DVD players that ignores DVD region coding on RPC-1 firmware drives, making it a region-free player"

Yes so in other words, you can't use VLC to bypass region restrictions unless you just happen to have an old RPC-1 device.

  • Actually VLC couldn't play it… but I managed to find a program that also bypasses region lock: BlazeDVD
Thanks for the suggestions though, very useful.
