Masters Price beating - Is it this simple ?

I look at buying the following F&P appliances,

https://www.masters.com.au/product/100266818/fisher-paykel-6… $669
https://www.masters.com.au/product/100224651/fisher-paykel-5… $448

Is it simply a case of buying these from Masters, then quoting other retailers lower prices and getting a balance refund of the lower price less 10% ?

GG are doing the dryer for $418 so that would become $376, and,
HN has the DW for $649 becoming $584.

Thank you

  • No, you go to masters, show them the other retailers price, they match it and then beat that matched price by 10% of total, not just the difference. Pay for it and leave

    • Sorry, I didn't mean 10% off the difference but 10% off the competitor's lower price. Masters has to get the items in so I don't want to make two 50min trips hence my buy online angle.

      • They're unlikely to price match on special orders (items that need to be gotten in for you. )

You also need to make sure the models are exactly the same. Often companies will have slightly different model numbers for different retailers so they can avoid their price match guarantee.

and they might include delivery as part of the competitor's cost when price matching

    • If I was price beating a non-local/online only store then sure but these other guys are within 20mins of Masters.

  • I could understand them including delivery if I was having Masters deliver too but I'll be picking up in-store.

    The models are identical.

My thought was buying online as-is with customer pick-up, then calling their price match number and getting the difference credited back.

The only catch I think I need to clarify is whether Masters price beats stuff they've had to actually order in for me via my online purchase.

When I asked about fridges in my local store they said they didn't price match them if they had to do a 'special order' as they don't have the stock and that's one of the conditions.

When I did a price match on my Dyson I just bought it online and then rang up and asked them to refund the diff amount + 10%, which they did with minimal fuss. The woman on the phone was very helpful and nice. She just went and looked up the Myer website and confirmed the price match for me and then submitted a refund request to another department. It came through within the week.

  • Turns out Masters have stock despite website saying otherwise.

HN are going to see if they can match the 10% off their own price, otherwise Masters it is.

Two calls to the Masters hotline still left it unclear whether an out-of-stock item ordered in could be price matched within the 30 days post-sale window. Lots of 'ummms' from the staff.

  • Why not ask GG to match the dryer?

  • I bought a cordless dyson for mother's day after pricematching with Good guys who had it for $9 cheaper. Ended up saving an extra $40 and it was a really simple process. The manager just had to look up the good guys catalague online and that was it

  • i bought a garden tool from masters a while back. then i realised it was cheaper at bunnings so i went back with a print out of the bunnings web site and they did the price match with no hassles.

  • I ended up picking up from Masters at time of purchase. Since then Harvey 's washer price has gone up to match Masters so I got in at the right time. Still got 3 weeks to find any cheaper prices which Masters will still beat.
