I think junks and spams are not different types of posts like deals, freebies or coupon codes. They are unwanted posts. Instead of being filed into different sections of the website, they should all be deleted straight away.
Currently my proposal is:
- Make freebie a different posting type. So when you click on "Submit" to submit a deal, you'll get a 4th option for freebies. They will look a bit different in the database so they can be easily filtered out and re-organised.
- A separated
/freebiesURL to list nothing but freebies, RSS feed included. - Front page and recently submitted listing will remain the same — they will include everything including the freebies.
- A per-user preference to filter out the freebies from front-page and recently-submitted listing. So for those who like to keep them separate, he/she can set it to filter out all freebies.
Will that work? If no objection I'll put that into code later this week/early next week.

I don't agree that much with the separation of freebies and bargains, I prefer to have all in a mainstream page as to reduce the amount of clicking I needed when visiting the website everyday.
What my suggestion is, to introduce a filter function. Maybe put even more categories than just freebies and bargains, it can even filter what in the past was considered junk, spam, etc. This way, there are more open possibilities for users to look at different deals they want to see.
