Gigabyte U24F-4701P opinions for ~$1199

Need an all round new laptop for uni and everyday work since my old one died last month.

I want it to last me a long time since I have no plans on buying a new laptop in the next however many years and light since I want to move around with it a lot. I need it for the usual uni work and running Eclipse. Otherwise I always have 20+ tabs open and many other programs as well. And I tinker around in photoshop quite often.

So what are your opinions on this laptop and for this price? Or do you have any suggestions on something better? Also that's about as far as my budget goes

  • For coding and photoshop you're going to want an SSD.

    Good luck.

    • Yeah true, and thanks.

  • Gotta say Gigabyte's current line-up of laptops are pretty under-rated. It's a good price for a low-end gaming laptop that is actually portable (1.7kg w/ HDD, 1.6kg w/o), and I've heard good things about Gigabyte's dual vent design. It has one mSATA port so it should be easy to put an SSD in there.

    • They seem good yeah, but finding reviews on this specific model yielded very little results. And that's good since I really want this model. Thanks

  • Looks great on paper. If you want it for a daily drive, see if you can try they trackpad, keyboard and screen for yourself.

    • I'll be doing that if I can find it near me in stock. Unfortunately msy seems to be out.
