As far as I can tell, not one clearance item is 90% off as the title claims.

    • -5

Hi, The baggy shorts, skateboards and scooters are over 80% off: http://www.velogear.com.au/weekly-specials-clearance-items/c…

      • +6

        No they're not.
Baggy shorts are 79.8% cheaper than your regular price.
        Scooters are 77.5% cheaper

Only the skateboards are over 80% cheaper at 83% discount.

NOTHING is 90% off as per post your title.

        • I'm going to repost this here up the top, for the benefit of anyone who doesn't bother reading through the whole comment section.

This is a recap of the rep's dodgy behaviour:

          1. Rep advertises a "daily deal", and claims you can "Save up to 90%". It is pointed out that the largest saving listed is 83%.
          2. Rep continues to claim there are items 90% off, but that "You just may have to hunt for them".
          3. After a bit of back and forth, the rep links to a 5-pack of baby socks (not from the initially posted deal) that were supposedly originally $80, but have now been reduced to $9. It is pointed out that this is still not 90% off.
          4. It is revealed that as of earlier this month, the 'normal' price for the 5-pack of baby socks was $29.99 — not the $80 that is now listed. The actual price hasn't changed.
  • +5

Rep - can you please link to the 90% off items?

    • -3

Hi, The baggy shorts, skateboards and scooters are over 80% off: http://www.velogear.com.au/weekly-specials-clearance-items/c…

      • +5

You may want to check the maths for the shorts and scooters. Even 'if' they were over 80% I still don't see anything at 90% which is what you are claiming.

        • -5

          Hi,

They are between 80 and 90% off so it looks a little mediocre to say up to 81.3777% off or whatever it may be.

Please note we also have a clearance section as well where you should find 80% & 90% off items: http://www.velogear.com.au/weekly-specials-clearance-items/c…

If you are not happy with these specials that is fine as there are plenty of customers loving our deals!

          Thanks

        • +5

I have purchased from you plenty of times and you do have good deals. It is a shame that you have resorted to misleading claims to sell your items. We do not appreciate being taken for fools.

        • +5

If you are not happy with these specials that is fine as there are plenty of customers loving our deals!

The specials aren't the problem. The lying is the problem.

        • -4

I'm very sorry if you found this misleading.

We do have items that are up to 90% off, wether they are in the clearance section or not. You just may have to hunt for them.

        • +2

It's not "misleading", it's an outright lie.

        • +2

Would you like to share any of these 90% off bargains to put this to rest?

        • -3

We have 3000 items online. Please feel free to search the site - they will most likely be in the clearance section.

        • +3

Exactly as I expected your response to be. I gave you the option to back up your 90% off claim but you are unwilling or unable to do so.

        • +3

We have 3000 items online. Please feel free to search the site - they will most likely be in the clearance section.

Just went through all 171 items in the clearance section; nothing 90% off.

You don't get to announce "UP TO 90% OFF", then say "Oh yeah, there's probably something 90% off somewhere, go find it yourself".

        • Hi,
Our priority is getting the orders out and answering emails. We are one staff short today in a 3 man business so makes it pretty full on fro the rest of us. If you would like to leave your email for me I can send through some 90% off items for you when I get a chance.

          Thanks

        • +2

Or you could just post them here, publicly.

        • +2

Feel free to comment on here with your 90% off deals so that you can also share with your 'plenty of other customers loving your deals". I am sure that they would also appreciate the confirmation that they are not being mislead.

        • A bunch of the old socks are discounted. Please see here: http://www.velogear.com.au/baby-socks-assorted-colours-clear…

        • +1

If you are not happy with these specials that is fine as there are plenty of customers loving our deals!…I will not buy from a store that treats people with contempt

        • -2

          Hi,
I am sorry you feel this way. I just felt like I was going back and forth with the other two and they were not understanding that we did have items 90% off - even though it was a bit of a hunt to actually find them.
Customer service is our number one priority.

        • You might want to familiarize yourself with OzBargain's deal posting guidelines before you post your next deal. If you're going to claim you have deals up to 90% off in the title, it's your responsibility to back that up, not the users'.

          (You still haven't by the way… 90% off $80 is $8)

        • Customer service is giving your custumer what they want

  • +1

Hold-fast straps are not too badly priced.

  • +1

neg for not backing up claimed 90%

    • -2
      • +3

Just so you know, 90% off $80 is $8.

      • +2

        $80 for a 5 pack of baby socks… wow

      • +2

You have still NOT provided a link to even one product that is actually 90% off regular price.

      • +1

i suspect you just changed the listing but you need to buy a calculator..you should also check out the law regarding claimed normal prices.

  • whats the quality like on the scooters ?

    • These are a $90 RRP scooter so pretty good quality. Obviously you can get better. But they are not cheap in quality terms.
We are just trying to clear the summer stock to make way for winter items hence the ridiculous prices.

  • +2

On what planet are you were these basic baby socks are $80 for a pack of 5???????????
Bonds pack of 4 are $11 all day every day as a normal price. Inflating your own retail price, to then offer a 90% is I believe illegal (I could be wrong).
You also might want to check your maths. 90% off $80 would bring it to $8.00.

    • -2

We are not selling them for $80, that is the RRP. $16 a sock RRP. They are organic, not cheap socks.

      • +6

        bullshit is organic as well

      • +2

“Organic” cotton, so you mean cotton. If your cotton is not organic, guess what, it’s not really cotton.

As you have not listed the brand of these more cotton than cotton socks, how is the claimed RRP a verifiable figure?
The Bonds one I referred to, are also cotton, although they seem to have failed in basic marketing as they have decided to omit the word “organic”. They can be easily searched anywhere and found as a real price.
So Bonds ones available in multiple places for the equivalent of $2.75 each. Or these unknown cotton+ socks for the supposedly normal price of $16 each, yet also listed on your site for a single buy price as normally listed $9.00 but on clearance at $2.99, can be purchased in a 5 pack for the equivalent of $1.80. Clear as mud.
The bonds are however plain white, so I can fully understand how your pink bear ones can justify a claimed upcharge of $13.25.

    • +2

Interestingly, their normal price for a single pair is $9, so at full price you could buy five pairs for $45. Yet their normal price for a pack of five is $80? Something seems dodgy here…

  • +5

Oh, look what we have here. As of the 3rd of May, they were claiming that the normal price for the 5-pack of socks was $29.99. Now they've kept the actual price the same, but the 'normal' price has magically jumped to $80.

    So, let's recap.
    1. Rep advertises a "daily deal", and claims you can "Save up to 90%". It is pointed out the the largest saving listed is 83%.

Don't think I'll be doing business with this store any time soon.

    • +1

And the lies just keep coming. I can see the future of Velogear on OzBargain coming to an end as all credibility has been destroyed with this post and the horrific responses.

I could not get Google chache to bring that up for me, great work.
So this clearly is illegal activity.

  • +1

velogear also listed six30 gear 10% off 0n 22/8/13 and then launched six30 on 3/12/13 ?? they should be banned from listing for a time

  • -2

I am sorry everyone feels this way, don't worry I will NEVER EVER be posting a deal like this again.

I thought I wrote the title correctly but I guess on Ozbargain you need to double check these things.

Sorry again, I have expired this deal so no need to longer respond.

    • +2

Shock horror, people on the internet don’t like being lied to and have the ability to highlight the lies very quickly.

      • As mentioned I wasn't trying to lie. There are deals that are UP TO 90% off, some may not be spot on at 90% off but they are roughly 90%.
Next time I will check my wording better. Perhaps I should have said almost up to 90% off. Would that have been better?

        • +2

Where you failed was by not admitting to your error early and rectifying it. Instead you continued to make false claims. Although not proven there also appears to be price modification which still did not support your claims. Next time just simply be truthful. 80% is a great deal. A false 90% deal is a complete fail.

        • +1

The biggest discount amount that I found was 83% … in my book 83% is not "almost" or "nearly" or "close to" 90%, its 83%.

        • Indeed… An item reduced by 83% is 70% more expensive than what the same item would be if reduced by 90%.

  • +1

as per their website the code 'kalisale' works even after removing the eligible item (helmet) - maybe its 90% afterall - someone else can do the maths.

    • Thanks VJKNIGHT

      • LOL - how about free shipping for 2 scooters ? :)
