Great chance to score a dispenser if you've been considering it

YES the beer is more expensive, so hoping discussion doesn't revolve around the beer value - this is about scoring a free dispenser so you can have the choice

could not find this on net but saw it in today's Courier Mail

  • No first choice here :(

    The beer's not cheap though…

    • +3

That, and the beer is not cheap either…
      ;)
But in defense of the deal, you do get a free dispenser!
But it will make you go buy more overpriced low-grade beers…

Also the the beers not cheap either…

available at Dan Murphy as well

How much is the beer that goes in these things? I'm guessing, not cheap?

    • +1

YES the beer is more expensive

      • +2

Yes, it is more expensive. But as a Tap King drinker, I'm happy to pay the premium for a better quality beer.

Some people may prefer the taste of stubbies or cans.

I'm not sure I understand all the debate about the cost. When Johnny Walker Blue label is on OzB, I don't hear too many people saying that it's too expensive and that they should buy Johnny Walker Red instead! Same with meat - if fillet is on special for $20 a kilo, what's the point in someone telling us chuck steak is cheaper. They're different! Just like tap king is different from slab beer.

Let the tap king drinkers enjoy a good bargain without other stating the bleeding obvious that cheaper beer is available.

        • +3

Sorry to break the bad news to you mate, it is exactly the same beer in bottles and tap king kegs. Without debating price, your analogy between chuck and fillet steak is like saying crown larger comes out of your vb keg.

        • Yo Ticker, where's that bit from this thread suggesting that the "Tap King" carbonated the beer in your own home gone?!? Cause that sounded a bit like a porky-pie to me… ;P Albeit perhaps one that was baked in good faith… Or did I just imagine that post (certainly wouldn't be the first time)… ?!?

        • Flavor difference between bottled beer/canned beer and tapking beer;
Bottled beer is stored in glass.
Canned beer is stored in aluminium.
Tap king is stored in plastic .
Most bottle drinkers dont like cans because the taste varies, because the beer takes on some metal from the can, (like on tap beer at the pub is stored in Aluminium Too).
Tap king however is stored in plastic bottles, it takes on the premium priced plastic flavour… Yummy!
If you put plastic flavour into a fillet or a chuck, i'd go to the butcher and buy a chicken.

        • Erm, dear Ozmo, your post contains such a disjointed/ unclear mixture of "fact" (!?) and apparent tongue-in-cheek sarcasm that it is actually impossible to glean anything meaningful from it at all. I literally have no idea what you are trying to say.

  • Think of the environment people.

    • +1

I hate the environment. It's been the source of so much social division lately. AND price hikes. The sooner we do away with it, the better.

  • Good deal but not for me…
Paying around the same price as a slab to get half as much!

    • +2

Actually it works out to be just under a six pack for the "craft" 345ml beers. 5.4 stubbies to be exact. Or 3/4 of a slab. And.. that's not taking into account the $3 difference a carton for e.g. James Squire. $54.95 for a carton vs. $51.95 for 2 tap kings.

But.. even after the sums for the novelty value I'd crack a stub any day. That was thirsty work just thinking about this scenario.

Actually it works out to be just under a six pack for the "craft" 345ml beers

Since when are XXXX and Tooheys craft beers ?

        • since everyone became yuppies and imports became standard fare

        • +1

          domestically brewed "foreign" beers

      • I must have been drinking beer for too long, cause I don't understand this bit:
"5.4 stubbies to be exact. Or 3/4 of a slab."
… zis some sort of Jedi mind-trick, but with beer?

    • +2

Actually… It's around the same price as a slab to get the equivalent of almost 20 stubbies. If you prefer your beer in a glass (I do), it's not a huge hit. I probably lose that much in "dregs", when drinnking stubbies, anyway.

Math spolier: You lose 4.6 stubbies compared to a carton of Hahn, to be exact - can someone convert that into the 'Standard Hockey Middie' for me please?

  • free dispenser so I can have a choice?

that is why beer comes in convenient bottle size

  • +1

No deal until every tap king comes with a free fridge singer.

Hello? Is it this you're looking for?

    cost of tap king; $39.
    father-in-law's gratitude; priceless.

  • +1

you lot are a tough crowd! and since when do OzBers pass up a freebie?? I have a Tap King which sits in the cupboard mostly but it's there when I want to use it. Compare a glass of draught (freshly carbonated) vs a stubby (carbonated at bottling)- it's just got a different texture.

    • a freebie if you have to buy something? is not a reebie.

      • +1

        buy an 'f'?

        • +1

no thanks, I'll wait for a freebie.

  • not cheaper though…

  • +1

tap king is great for homebrew - not as good as a full keg set up but I am on my way. Been meaning to try the 150 lashes in the tap king so might grab this.

    • +1

i'm also looking forward to trying the 150 lashes - so this is an excuse to get a SECOND dispenser (free - normally $32)

      • You'll be able to set up yer own lil' 'speakeasy' soon Debones ;-)
Get a THIRD tap and yer in business I reckon…

  • +2

Woolies/BWS is doing this deal as well, but you can mix and match beers. As long as you buy two beers you get a free dispenser:
    http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/#url=/Shop/SearchProduct…

This may be useful if you have Woolies online codes available.

  • and now I see in today's paper XXXX Gold for $35 twin pack + dispenser at BWS

  • Smells like the slow death of personal home tapped beer.

No wonder they're giving them away for free.
