Wix Websites-- Would You Take A Business Seriously?

Hey everyone… Looking for a little advice.
My parents are looking to update their website, as it badly needs it… It doesn't need to be complex, just neat, a slide show, a couple of pages for our story etc, a calendar option (upcoming events etc) and a store… I've had a look at Wix and there is a template there that I think I could personalize to suit very well…

My questions are:
A) Would you take a business seriously if its web page was Wix based/designed?
B) Would you buy from it?

Thanks in advance folks.

Wix? Sure, no problems... Just do it well.

Wix = Armature and I think you'll probably steal money from me

A wix website doesn't have to look like a wix site though. (If it does then it shouldn't be a business website, or any serious website)

    • Noted, thanks :)

  • If you use the upgraded one and get your own domain there's no reason anyone would even know its wix.

Unfortunately, the words "website" and "wix" combine to make something that is just too similar to the word "weetbix", for me to ever be able to take a site hosted by them seriously. Unless they actually were selling weetbix, of course.

  • Have you had a look at Squarespace before? I personally haven't used it, but I have heard it is very professional.

    • Thanks, I'll check it out.

I have used wix and jimdo…. Easy to use and I think they look fine. :)

    Wix - http://www.forestestateolivegrove.com

    Jimdo - http://www.iamfish.com.au

    • Perfect, thanks for that :) A little bit of a conincidence… I think you used the same Wix template that I was playing around with last night, further conincidence- you're growing chemical/herbicide/pesticide free, so are my folks :D

Have you found them (Wix) ok as far as hosting goes?(and all that hullabaloo that goes with the premium package)

Although the Wix site doesn't seem to like the version of Internet Explorer I have (using a work computer and heaps of sites have a hissy fit at the outdated version of Internet Explorer they use).

Brilliant, thanks so much for the examples :D
