Buying Netbook from US

Heyas,

So I'm in the market to buy a netbook for when I travel to Europe next month and I've pretty much decided to get an Asus eeePC 1000HE or 1005HA-P.

I'd like to get the 1005HA-P from the US as it will only cost me ~$560 delivered (brand new), whereas the 1000HE is ~$650 locally (if anyone can get a cheaper price in Syd, let me know please! And I know I missed the CotD special =[).

The drawbacks that I am aware of are the warranty being in the US only and I'll need to get an AU power cable.

Is there anything else I should consider? Thanks in advance!

i recon you buy in Aus and get gst return when you leave Aus. the price is $650-$650/11=$595. you pay $35 more and get Aus warranty.

  • Yep, considered that, but the US model is supposed to be newer and hopefully better. I recall reading somewhere that the 1005HA series would replace the 1000HE series?

  • Woot, finally got through to ASUS customer support and the 1005HA-P is covered by international warranty! Absolute no brainer now =)

Mods: Can close this thread now if you want.

  • Sure. All the best with your ASUS 1005HA-P :)
