Decent priced Sydney hotel in November

My partner and I are looking for a decent hotel i.e. not a backpacker for a 2 night stay from Friday 14th November.

I (wrongly!) assumed that with the amount of hotels in the city that the competition would mean good prices but no such luck! Can't quite believe how expensive the majority of the big chains are - well over $300 per night without breakfast and no cancellation.

Best we've found is $144 per night at the Mercure Potts Point (without breakfast).

There don't seem to be any active discount codes for RatesToGo which we've used a few times with up to 20% off.

Any other ideas or should we hold out for a new discount code.

  • Hi,
I had a glance at the usual places and have to say that the prices are really way up there, especially considering you are looking at November…
    I'd suggest the following:
    https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/2601656?checkin=14-11-2014&c…

There are also some good Voucher Codes for Airbnb.com @ http://www.retailmenot.com/s/airbnb

  • Haha 144 sounds pretty good.
I was there a couple of weekends ago for a concert.
Stayed at Ibis Budget in Olympic park, $129 for 1 night.

Seriously, it spartan. Like the absolute bare minimum to survive, no frills. Thin towels, thin sheets, not even a duvet on the bed. Whole bathroom floods when you take a shower. Pay a bit more for a bit of luxury IMHO.

Search 'hotels' on here - I think there's 12% of hotels.com. Also if you have a visa, hotelclub do special rates with them of around 10-15%. Failing that, I find wotif.com is usually pretty good.

  • Thanks for the replies. $144 is fine and we will take it if nothing else comes along but the location is not the best and the reviews are only average.

It just seems that to stay in the CBD in anything other than a backpacker places is well over $300 per night - without breakfast.

We'd be happy to pay around $200 or even slightly more for something reasonably nice.

    • I did a quick search on hotels.com and the Hilton was $279 for those dates? I got an email with 12% off code expiring today - that should bring to $245.
