Best AIO Car GPS / Audio Solution for a VW Tiguan

Hi Guys,

Need your help in deciding which All in One solution to go with for a replacement to my existing 2 Din CD Player in my 2009 Tiguan. Things that are important to me include:

  • Stable and for the most part bug-free
  • Good screen resolution
  • Plug and Play with existing car wiring and looks like it belongs in the dash
  • GPS, Memory card audio and maybe even video playback

I originally was looking at the Audisource DNS810. The Specs look to be unreal and plug and play aspect appeals, but after trawling through VW forums, they've gotten some pretty bad feedback:

Then there are the Eonon units which aren't fantastic spec wise and run windows CE, but seem to get fairly good reviews (Value for Money):

Has anyone had experience with any other car GPS suppliers, perhaps even some using android?

Love to hear peoples thoughts and experiences.

  • Android is a great choice.

If you check ebay for 'tiguan android' there are many results. If you buy something like Sygic for navigation you won't need online access. You may need to set your phone up with a NFC to enable wifi for it or have a 3G usb stick plugged into it for other functions though.

  • Been through this a couple of years back.. I ended up buying a Chinese made one for the VW online - with great reviews.

It was the worst decision I could have made. Sound quality was just crap and it died after a year.

I then bit the bullet and bought a Pioneer with a customised lining -which was only slightly cheaper than the DNS510 at the time. This was because I was sold on being able to take it off and put it in another car when it comes time to sell. However sound systems get superseded just like computers, and you'll never be bothered taking it out of the car.

So in the end, if I had my chance again, I'll just bite the bullet and get the original VW unit. Might cost a a little more than a Branded Unit, but the phrase "if you're gonna do it, do it properly" remains true.

    Hope this helps.
