Nexus 5 OTA Update 4.4.3

Hi all,

I managed to get the 4.4.3 Update finally!

*Note, this also works with Nexus 7 devices.

For those who cannot wait do the following:

Goto Settings > Apps > All
Scroll to Google Services Framework (GSF)
Select GSF and then disable it and reboot your Nexus device.
Once rebooted goto Settings > Apps > Disabled
Scroll again to GSF and clear the cache.
Re-enable GSF and the device should tell you a system update is available in the notifications.

Download, install and enjoy.

Cheers

Rob.

  • Worked for me, thanks mate!

    • Your welcome :)

  • Also got 4.4.3 this morning with my Nexus 4.

  • I got 4.4.3 yesterday morning on my Nexus 4. Didn't need to do anything to force it, just had the notification come up and said "go"

  • So anyone have a simple changelog not the 7500 line BS that I'm seeing from Google?

  • +2

    • Multiple Bluetooth fixes
    • Fix for a random reboot
    • App shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
    • USB debugging security fix
    • App shortcuts security fix
    • Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
    • Other camera fixes

  • I have no complaints prior to this update.

  • Thanks. It worked perfectly.

  • My Nexus 4 got the update notification on Thursday morning. Anyone notice a drop in battery life?

    • I think mine did as well (N4)

  • Thanks! Worked fine.

  • Why doesn't it just do this automatically without having to do all this mucking around?

    • What mucking around? You hit a yes or no button…

    • It does, the above method is simply for the impatient.

  • mine screwed up, it won't check for updates any more :( Apparently it doesn't always work

Does anyone know how to fix it?

    • try to remove your google/gmail account, then re-add it

      • nah didn't work. any other suggestions? might have to reset the whole thing

        • +1

how do you know its "screwed up"? what's it doing differently?
Only other thing i can think of is to clear the data of GSF, google services and anything else related, then reboot clear cache

        • i think it's just syncing. I can't update the phone, when i tap check now in system update nothing happens. facebook and hangouts notifications don't pop up.

Edit: Clearing the play services and GSF data worked, thanks!

        • no probs

  • didnt work for me

  • My Nex5 prompted me to update this morning, and it updated smoothly.
Seems to be similar to 4.4.2 but a different layout on the phone function.

  • Much easier to update if your bootloader is already unlocked (note, doing so will wipe your userdata so backup 1st).
Just flash the system.img, boot.img and radio through fastboot mode. I've never waited for an OTA.
Just download the right factory image which are available instantly after announcement.

  • Just received and installed 4.4.4 this morning…
