Telechoice mobile data usage alert

Has anyone who usage telechoice mobile got a mobile data usage when you've only used a small portion of your data?

This morning I got a message from telechoice saying I've used 71.89% of my data since my data rollover which happened on 4th June and my nexus 5 data counter shows that I've only used 170 mb data so far. I don't know how telechoice got their calculations from but I'm really pissed off at this. I tried to ring them but they're only open after 9 so I've sent them an email, hopefully I get a reply back soon.

I haven't gone out of home all day yesterday so have been using WiFi all day…

I read somewhere in the comments/forums about telechoice sending random data/credit usage alert when they haven't used much.

Please let everyone know if you happened to be a telechoice customer who have had problems with them

  • Relax. It's based on a pro rata basis for the first month.

    When is your cycle date?

PissLUR, I'm pretty sure he isn't referring to the sometimes freaky, pro rata-calculated first bill.

Either way, kishors, don't fret. Useless, delayed data-usage updates - from telco resellers especially - are common. Differing lags, depending on the telco, for resellers actually getting data-usage info, and then variable lags in the resellers' own email systems.

I'm not with Telechoice, but like you I've had (initially disturbing) updates, 3 or 4, or more, days into a new data-pack.

Just keep track of your data use via your phone's meter, and if you see yourself getting close to your allowance, be sure to leave a bit of a buffer. From memory, excess data-usage on Telechoice is charged at 25c/MB, which means that things can get pretty dire, pretty damn quickly, if you do go over.

    • Thanks Tas, i was really worried about it… they havent replied my email yet, may be they're closed on weekends so i'll have to wait till tuesday now.

  • Funny that, I have the same problem, rollover date one day before and same phone. I used 97% of the quota last billing cycle. I got an email today saying i've used 110% of the quota for the June-July billing cycle, which is impossible. The online records show only 130mb used this billing cycle, same as my nexus 5 data usage monitor. Waiting for a response to my email, but glad i'm not the only one, not looking forward to paying an extra $30+ and having no data for the rest of the month!

  • Hi PissLUR. Thank you for your message. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Telechoice encountered an error last week when the new cycle started, the previous usage was applied. Reason why an automatic sms alerts was sent. Telechoice management is already aware of this and it has been fixed. As of this moment here is the information for your data usage 1 Gb Mobile Data Pack: You have used 76.57 mb (7.48%) of your 1024 mb included data for the period starting from 3 Jun 2014 till 3 Jul 2014 Usage displayed may be up to 48 hours behind actual usage. I will now close this ticket so if you need any further assistance you will need to start a new ticket and we will be happy to assist you with your concern.

    • Is this usage in line with what you expected? Is it same as recorded by your phone (Android data meter)…

Yes. I have always used Android's data counter. and its all good.

        • Thanks…Actually i was with Amaysim (poor reception ) and now with voda prepaid (Good reception but $30 per month)…So thinking to join TC….So i asked questions…

        • +1

Yeah. They charge per 10 KB increment, So, the counter works well.

TeleChoice has been good for me. $20 per month. 12 months contract.

International calls are included in the cap. Uses Telstra 3G network.

Use the kogan-offers if you are signing up.

    • Wow, the Telechoice 'I.T. Crowd' really have some work to do…

    • Got a similar message today, glad they've fixed it for me
