Thoughts on Asus S551LN

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at the following laptop on Dick Smith's website:

http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laptops-notebooks/asus-15-6-s551…

My main reason to get a laptop is as a desktop replacement - I mainly use my computer for internet surfing, word processing and a little bit of gaming (not critical - mainly older FPSes but I might want to play some new games on low settings once in a while).

This laptop seems to be pretty powerful but I am concerned about the poor resolution (non-Full HD) and the lack of a SSD, so I'm hoping to get some thoughts from the ozbargain experts about whether this is a good fit and if there are better options out there - thank you!

Specs are pretty good, but no SSD kills it for me.

MSATA SSD would solve the issue. That's assuming it has MSATA slot.

How about Gigabyte's new P15F v2 gaming laptop:

  • Thanks for your advice guys - there isn't too much information available on this laptop but I wasn't able to find anywhere which would confirm it has a mSATA slot.

  • you're exactly right…

    HD is poor on 15"
    5,400rpm drives are too slow
gt840 is low speed 64bit bus
    only single band wireless
    2.4kg

very bag value for the money
