    Hi Mikinoz,
Without knowing too much about the Ziova, the eGreat M34A is an excellent option for streaming media across your home network to the TV.
Another great option is eGreat's other model; the M31B, which is virtually the same as the M34A except it allows for on board memory (up to 2TB!).
    We stock both models.
    Cheers.

    • Thank you

This unit has a Fault where on most xvid and dvix files the audio drops out on every file with 48khz.
Either Firmware fault or Design Fault.

1.Jaguar car 15 sec, then rewound without stopping, then no fault at 15 sec, then rewound then pressed stop and play, dropout fault occurs at 15 sec again.

2.Merc Car 1.11 sec dropout occurs

    1. Open door 19 sec

    2. Open gate 8 sec

    3. Intro 57 sec

    4. snow 27 sec

We are told this minor audio issue will be fixed in coming firmware updates (very easy to install).

Overall, the M34A player receives great wraps. The one bloke over on Whirlpool does seem to have his issues with it though…

    • Great wraps… but for the crippling problem that might possibly be fixed at some point?

      Eeep.

      • I have watched over 60 Media files on mine and not seen this problem on the weekend it really gets a flogging, could be a issue with the user running too many services

  • are these units able to downmix files with dts to stereo if using normal rca cable? i have a home theatre system but i also wanna be able to take the unit elsewhere where there might not be a receiver that can handle dts (ie just a tv)

  • Until the audio issue is fixed, I'm staying away from this player. There is a promise to fix in upcoming firmware, but who knows how long it will be before that is delivered. Someone on WP posted that it occurred on almost every AVI file he had collected through the years. That's a pretty big sample/problem IMO.

Is there a manual available for download? I would like to have a read before committing to purchase.

  • I have played tons of DIVX & and XVID, transferred from my XBMC box and not heard any audio dropout (using HDMI Audio & Optical), my only issue with the box is the lack of blu-ray drive, there is no Issue with DTS mixdown as long as its not HDAUDIO, it wont mix down to AC3 like some units. Solution is to run the MVK or blu-ray rip through RIPBOT and convert to AC3. I have experienced some audio issues with 20Gb+ DTS videos, the solution was to turn off all non essential services (upnp server, myhomeserver, ftp server ect..) in the box except for SMB Server.

    • The M34A will play pretty much all of your high def, 1080p, blu-ray format files. For this price though, it is a bit rough to expect a blu-ray drive in it.
For Blu-Ray drive compatibility, you should check out the Popcorn Hour C-200. We currently have a pre-sale on this model, with only 2 left from the first round (arriving in 2.5 weeks), second round will begin once round 1 is sold out.

  • Interested. What's the warranty like on this?
Also, any way to get wireless networking on this? Adapter?

    • Depends on the retailer, I got mine from www.mediaplayersandmore.com.au and they have a full 12 month warranty, as with most of the NMT based players you can plug in a TPLINK usb Wireless N dongle ($40 - $50) into one of the USB ports, not really suitable for streaming fullHD Video

    • We also offer a full 12 month warranty at Eljo Media Solutions.
The TP-Link USB Wireless N adapter comes in at $49.95. This is the recommended USB adapter for the NMTs like the M34A. Be careful using other Wireless N adapters as there is a high chance they wont work with the player.
