Portable TV for World Cup

Hi Guys,

The World Cup is kicking off. Now I have to go out.
So annoying.

What is the best way to watch TV on the go? cheap and good picture.

Need a mini portable TV - where to get one now?

Used to have a hand held Casio Colour TV (Free, claimed thru Credit Card) and a Black and White cube shaped portable from supermarket for $50.

Thanks.

I had a little 4 inch Philips colour LCD television back when they (and the not particularly long-lived fluorescent backlights they had then) cost an absolute bomb. A bit of expensive fun.

I'm not in the mood for searching anything specific, frankly, but I do remember seeing a few (much) cheaper mini TV's on the various China-store websites like Tmart just a little while back. There were at least a few that looked likely compatible with our DVB-T transmissions.
Dick Smith were also selling at least one small LCD TV, also awhile back, and may still be. I'll let you look.

Honestly, if I wanted a portable mini-ish TV at this point, I'd buy a cheap DVB-T tuner dongle, split-cable powered from a cheap little powerbank and plugged into a not-quite-so-cheap 8 inch Windows tab.
I presume that it may (?) also be possible to get an (otherwise) Apple (Mac) compatible Elgato unit to play nice with an iPad Mini, by one trick or another, but I really am just guessing.

Anyway - a few ideas there for you to explore…

I just brought a set top box into work and hooked it up to the projector.. everyone thinks I'm a technological genius!

Whats your mobile phone situation like? If you have a reasonable data limit and an iOS or android device you could give the sbs world cup app a go and live stream the games…

    • Cheers! Solved my problem.

If you're unable to use wi-fi, do keep a very close eye on your data allowance.
