File transfer freezes when copying files to Corsair USB 3.0 Flash Voyager GS 128GB Win 7 64 bit

Hello I am having problems copying files to my new 128GB flash drive.Basically the file starts off fine transferring super fast speeds then when the transfer gets near the end it just stops and freezes for a while.
I reformatted the flash drive from exFAT to NTFS the problem still occurs. I did a bit of google search but none of the answers worked for me. My usb 3.0 port seems to working fine.
I would appreciate if anyone can give me some feed back on what might be causing this.

Thanks.

  • It could be an outdated driver. Update the drivers for your motherboard, including BIOS if you have any updates for it.

also please check the KB976972 hotfix for Windows 7. if you are running an Nvidia based EHCI chipset.

Could you also try a different USB device? Try plugging in not a flash drive but a hard drive. Or perhaps try an older flash drive with USB 2.0. Does it successfully transfer the file?

  • I have tried KB976972 did not work. I am only having trouble with this particular flash drive. I have a 64GB SanDisk Extreme which works perfectly. Thanks for you input scimshaw.

    • Well that narrows it down to either being an issue with your computer not liking this particular USB 3.0 drive, or that the drive itself is borked.

Can you reproduce this issue using another PC? If you can, that means it's the USB drive.

  • It works fine on my brothers computer. I do notice that there are a lot of refurbished corsair drives for sale.
I have giving up trying for now.

  • I have fixed this problem now. It was an outdated usb 3.0 driver.
