Vacumn Cleaners Recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a specific (but quality) vacumn cleaner medium - handheld sizes. Alternatively is there a good discount place / dyson outlet where I'll find something?

Thanks all!

  • checked choice.com.au? have to paty for a subscription but it's worth it for these sorts of things.
just check the best buy list then go bargain them down at retravision or harveynorman

  • you have to pay to access choice.com.au. I just bought my Dyson vacuum cleaner last week from HN. Happy with the price and fantastic vacuum cleaner. Good luck.

  • we just had a in home demo of the latest "kirby" vacuum cleaner
and boy did it blow us away.
We thought our dyson was good. The kirby just showed how bad your
everyday cleaner is. The crap that came out of our rug was truly amazing.
The suction was 100 x more and it has a vibrating system that REALLY losens
    the dirt from deep down.
Couldn't afford it but I can see the justification in purchasing one when you
consider how many vacuum cleaner one buys!

get a free home demo and be amazed!

    • How much were they asking for the Kirby?
Maybe you could get an in-home "demo" once a month and save buying one ;-)

      • Ya sitting down!
        First he said ~$4000
then the usual spiel about phoning the manager for a great price
        plus trade in the dyson.

Since then have found what he was selling on ebay, brand new with warranty for $1300.
At that price it is a great buy for what it can do.

You think your dyson does a good job, pffft the kirby makes you feel like you've been ripped
off with all the other vacuum cleaners.

        BOOK A DEMO!

I have no affiliation with Kirby at all, just blown away at the crap that it got out of our rug!

My mother has had her Rainbow oen for over 20 years and its still going strong. They are admittedly not as cheap as many other brands, and they are water based (ie you have to empty filthy water at the end of the clean)…but they are one of the best ones around. She got it specifically because as a child I was asthmatic and could not be exposed to alot of dust and this was the best one on the market for doing a deep and thorough clean. If you want one that will last…this is definitely the way to go (not sure where to buy them though, maybe do a google search)

+1 for Dyson. Had ours for 3 years now, no issues. For $800 it's certainly worth it. The carpet tool with it's rotating bristles is awesome, picks all the dirt in the carpets.

edit : I have the dc08 telescopic with HEPA filter.

  • I've got an early Dyson (DC02). Noisy, but works well. Hard to get filters for now but have saved a fortune in bag costs. I might get a cheap Aldi next week as a backup and will compare…

  • We have a Dyson DC08 - I think its about 5 years old. Broke down once but was covered by extended warranty from David Jones.

Picks up a lot of dust etc that a standard vacuum doesn't. I am thinking about buying a new vacuum cleaner and looking at the DC23 Stowaway for ~$700.

Harvey Norman will bargain on price, particularly if you pay cash. Also look out for special offers like the current free asthma and allergy kit deal….

  • roomba 560

  • we have had a miele white pearl for a number of years now and it works without a hitch. Mum has always used/loved the brand, so lol, i might be a bit biased

  • Dyson (I can't recall the product details but something like DC 19). I bought it from Good Guys earlier this year as they were on specials, something around $350…

very powerful (as compared to the one earlier we had) and maintenance free…
